One of the things I used to love about Prince was his sense of fun and lack of respect for musical conventions. It's hard to pin down, but Jack White, possibly for similar reasons, has often reminded me of bits of Prince. And since Prince hasn't been particularly daring for quite a while now, Jack (for me) has taken his place.

Jack hasn't disappointed me for a long time now

but... you're still saying that you'd be quite happy with the plausible Prince/Jack White/Robert Plant final 3 on the Pryamid Saturday

You didn't see The Dead Weather at Glasto then?

But yeah hes constantly changing and trying new things which is always good. He'll go down a treat at the festival. Just as The White Stripes did.

I was never a Prince fan really so don't get the comparison. Prince is a world class tit. A talented tit mind you but one of those American megastars who lived through a haze coke and money in the 80s and basically has lost complete touch with reality and thinks hes a modern day Apollo. Hes like a high budget version of Fr Eoin McLove from Father Ted.

That 80s man-diva thing is so.....errr........80s!

Didn't see their special guest slot on the park in 09 - as some twat told me it was klaxons so I didn't walk up - but enjoyed dead weather on the pyramid the following year. I was leathered and basking in the Sun, mind.

they were good on the Park I thought but since I only knew two songs (album wasn't out at the time) and it was weird seeing Jack on drums, I didn't feel as epic as other Jack shows.

Seen The Dead Weather twice since (one was pyramid 2010) they were much better, second album being a better album helped.

Stop getting white wrong!!!:-P

The first raconteurs album is the best and the first dead weather album is the best.

The second of both have more guitar w*nkery I'll grant you but are far less cohesive and both seem to be less collaborative and more like solo efforts put together - within the same song at times.

seen

You are the one who is wrong

Looking forward to the Lazaretto vs Blunderbuss argument come June.

Well as the rule and formula clearly shows, if there are only two albums by a Jack white project, the first one is the best. This was also true of the white stripes when there were only two, but white blood cells trumped them. So therefore next year's dead weather album will beat the other two and make our argument irrelevant.

Not that it isn't already.

You are an insult to your avatar and a disgrace to your user name. ;-)

off

xD:sarcastic:

I agree that WBC is best of the first three Stripes albums, but Elephant topped that one.

I find it difficult to rank jack white (and side project) albums. None would spring to mind as my favourite albums ever but i could happily listen to all of them without wanting to skip a track.

    • Where did you see this?
    • No idea how it'll work in a festival setting but really enjoying Prewn at the moment.
    • Lineup announced, with the dates having been pushed back to 12th and 13th September. Tickets on sale tomorrow 8:30am.   12th September Chaka Khan Jack Savoretti Lulu Emeli Sande Texas ABC The Script   13th September Simple Minds Deacon Blue Level 42 Appleton Blue James Blunt Cast   I think it’s a pretty weak lineup compared to previous years to be honest - and think it’s quite lazy they’ve gone down the Scottish route so much (not sure Simple Minds would be classed as a headliner elsewhere in the UK).

    • I've been saying that it's been due for years. I don't recall anything but good luck, mainly, since 2016.   If we could get the bad year out of the way during the fallow year, and return to glorious sunshine next year, that would be most welcome.
