I'd be happy if *either* Prince or Kanye West headline Pyramid on Saturday with Metallica on Other for Sunday.

I'm fairly sure I'll be pleased with Saturday's headliner (unless it's Elbow) and Arcade Fire are solid enough for Friday so I'm just looking for a Kasabian alternative. If the Kasabian crowd are split between Pyramid and the football on Sunday night, the atmosphere for Metallica on Other could be fucking legendary.

I have the same thought process, Prince/Kayne would be brilliant.

Metallica would be brilliant at any other festival yes they would headline. However, Glastonbury is a little different. The Other Stage makes sense for them, however the fact that they are an exclusive for Soni would suggest it isn't going to happen (announced at least)

I guess, as ever, we will have to wait patiently for more details to filter out. On a plus note, at least Mumford and Sons will not be at the festival this year!

So you think Eavis, a man who by all accounts stopped booking heavy acts after the 'Pearl Jam death incident' due to his fear of people being crushed/crowd mismanagement would book possibly the biggest heavy metal band in the world to play on the second stage & risk it being over run & turning into chaos? (I'm not saying it would be, but the risk is there nevertheless).

I just don't see it. People seem to be clinging on to this 'rumour' with a lot of false hope when the reality is there is 0 chance of it actually happening.

1) Because Metallica are desperate to play

2) AS I said if they were to play Glastonbury I don't think they'd pull in a large pyramid crowd given the general crowd, the festival doesn't cater to heavy rock at all (pretty much save 1 or 2 exceptions these days) so as a result a lot of Metallicas fan base are not interested in attending the festival. I was just saying Metallica aren't necessarily a band that can headline Glastonbury despite their popularity. At no point did I suggest they were going to play.
