New Q Magazine says that Kasabian have a new album in June and then make a leap of faith and hint at Glastonbury headline slot.

Makes kasabian a pretty good bet. They've played so many festivals that I can imagine glasto wanting to get something different to their last shows.

something similar happens every year but never has such a promise as 'the BIGGEST bands' been made (that i'm aware of), so unless these rumours of say, Metallica headlining Other come true (and the third headliner actually being Prince or Led Zep etc) it seems like a pretty big statement with no results (although it is Eavis so why anybody expected anything else i don't know)

every year what happens? Big headliners are rumoured/promised and they don't happen? like The Stones, or Stevie Wonder, or Neil Young, or Bruce Springsteen...?

Kasabian seem as likely as anyone at this stage

No sir! My point was more about rumours running away with themselves rather then a lack of quality acts. Like when people were convinced that Arcade Fire were going to sub U2 or that Metallica are going to headline the Other Stage this year or that Prince is going to be playing Shangrila.

I'd be happy to be wrong in doubting that one.

Weirdly enough I've seen Metallica a few times before and although consistently good they'd never be a band to get me excited on a lineup. The idea of them at Glasto though is quite thrilling!
