City Of Culture 2017 is...... Hull!

Its about we got some positive press, I know a few on here have either lived, live or have spent time around here. And I've heard people say good and bad things about the place. I was born here, grew up here, and we are now raising our kids here. I'm really pleased we got it, and I hope it brings some great times and some great coverage with it.

I really liked our bid video as soon as I saw it, I thought it summed up the city really well. The free "Freedom Festival is really popular, and we have some great small music fests here on the marina and old fruit market area.

Spent 12 weeks in hull with work and love the place. Then again I also like middlesborough which regularly competes with hull for the worst town/city in Britain. Maybe its just my northern bias, but to me both have a great identity.

The level of local cynicism was a sight to behold, yes every city has its downsides and shitty areas, but the good bits around here are great. Its nice to see what an "outsider" thinks of the video.

Slightly disappointed that Swansea didn't win this. They were planning on refurbishing an abandoned old building and turning it into a decent gig venue which Swansea sorely needs. Oh and we lost to Hull

I felt Liverpool made a right meal of it when we got it in 2008, we threw down a new shopping centre, which only opened mid way 2008, and stuck Ringo Starr on a roof to sing some songs, so much more has been done since, but never the less, it's WAY better than before!

Bit disappointed that Dundee didn't win as I went to Uni there
