Pretty certain someone told me / I read that the Mayor has confirmed that it's no longer happening. Traffic and security risks apparently.

I have a love/hate relationship with the Apollo in Manchester. Its a really fantastic venue to watch music. However, it's absolute murder to get a drink.

I love the Manchester Apollo. Seen some great stuff in that place down the years - Oasis in 2001 and the Hot Chip/LCD co-headliner in 2009(ish) spring immediately to mind. Was also there when they were filming scenes for 24 Hour Party People.

Arena's would be shite for The National, would be very happy with Ally Pally though, got a massive soft spot for that venue!! Can see them start announcing UK shows once the Glasgow shows are out of the way, so most likely early September

Hammersmith Apollo with the Sad Dads was up there with my best ever gigs. A new album, Castlefield Bowl and the possibility of another UK Tour later in the year is so much more than I expected for 2019.

Although it was unlikely anyway they are almost but not 100% ruled out of Glasto by their last date of their US run being 28.06. They could technically make the Sunday but it would be a big effort for a festival they played last time out.

I know - I wasn't saying "why don't they play it live?" - I just want more like that. I am saying that about Available though. They would be bigger if they had more tunes like that in the set - I bet you.

Turtleneck is probably the only song they’ve done from Cherry Tree onwards that I don’t like. 

They’re at their best when laying down jams like About Today.

Probably getting away from the point of they should write more heavy tracks. But I like it when they play non-heavy tracks live and Matt gets a bit screamy on it. Like Squalor Victoria or Graceless.
