Looking at last night's setlist I think I made the right decision switching my tickets to Wednesday. Still would have been great though.

All 4 nights were brilliant set list wise but I agree Wednesday was the strongest (for me personally anyway) so glad I picked it.

The reviews from everyone on here have been very positive, really shows the band are on top form at the moment.

it took a while to get going last night I think even tho I thought the new tracks sounded ace. England was the first one to get all the crowd singing properly, then they dropped off a bit again but I think I need my girl onwards was amazing and everyone else around me seemed to love it too.

Secret fuckin meeting! I was happy with the oldies we got, even Lucky You was surprisingly well received down the front. Vanderlyle to end was excellent.

didnt change my opinion on this is the kit, but I felt a bit sorry for them having to contend with the noise of the room.

That said, having looked at Tuesday they got Sea of Love, Mistaken for Strangers and Graceless.

Next time I'm just going to have to go every night.

I think that doing these short residencies and switching up the set list is great. Chances are if you're a fan of the band, you're gonna have a great time regardless of which night.

Obviously as we've seen, afterwards you compare set lists and maybe wish you went to another night but going to the gig and knowing that there will be two or three unexpected oldies or an unpredictable cover puts the excitement into it and makes it such a special moment. That's what going to a gig is all about and maybe in recent years its lost a bit of that.

I'm jealous of all of you!

What the fuck that Wednesday setlist??? Hard to Find > All the Wine > Slow Show > Conversation 16 > Bloodbuzz Ohio, plus Pink Rabbits ffs. And even Mr November which we didn't get on Tuesday.

Yeah Tuesday had the worst Setlist IMO although we did get Graceless and This Is the Last Time. We had every song off of SWB minus I'll Still Destroy You!

Yeah. Little bit annoyed that I got the Tuesday setlist not the Wednesday... but was still worth every penny.

Got to say though, I really don't like Turtleneck, which is probably the first song I've ever listened to at a National gig and wanted to end. And i don't get Sleep Well Beast as a track, although I think it may click at some point.

Yeah, I still think Turtleneck is a turd of a song. Hopefully they'll ditch it from sets soon after this tour.

it's Matt's vocal style which makes it awful for me. yelping "salvation" or "waiting years for" or "turtleneck" on the 2nd chorus, and the way he sings each chorus sounds like he was hungover and just bashed it out in 1 take and then fucked off.

it always sounds like he's straining to hit a certain height but can't get there.

That's exactly what I love in Matt's screaming! He already does the strained shouting live for Mr November so I thought it was interesting he chose to use it on record too. I definitely think it sounds a bit out of place on the record with all the other sombre tracks, but it sounds great live.  Maybe should have been a B-side?  I'm surprised they don't have more songs for Matt to let loose on.

Turtleneck and System Only Sleeps... sound far more El Vy than recent National to me (part of the reason I brought it up).  Personally, I'm glad Matt's carried some of that over into the new record. Bit odd that National have suddenly picked a sound so similar to Brent Knopf's though.
