newagehippie
Anyone reckon an edit of the host file with 194.168.202.218 would aid the cause?
sortzcov
Advice I see on other threads is to completely alter the Host file used last year if you still have it. - Windows Start Menu. - Right click 'Notepad'. - Run as administrator; click Yes - File. Open. Computer. Local Disc C:. Windows. System32. Drivers. Etc. - Change 'Text Documents' to 'All files' - Open hosts - Delete entry for glastonbury.seetickets.com - Save. Close. Alternatively, don't do it, use the three different server addresses obviously with the glastonbury.seetickets.com suffix and see how far you get. Report back. 194.168.202.201 glastonbury.seetickets.com 194.168.202.202 glastonbury.seetickets.com 194.168.202.218 glastonbury.seetickets.com How does this work on a mac anyone?

Facetiousbob
cant you use the IP address of the server to get onto the pages? or is it not that simple
parsonjack
Anyone reckon an edit of the host file with 194.168.202.218 would aid the cause? no. it's only worth it if the See DNS stops givign that address out - so by adding it to your Hosts file you dont need the DNS. a robot
since the domain already resolves to any of those IP addresses, editing the hosts file will do absolutely nothing to help
thesecretingredientiscrime
There's really no point. Essentially, at the moment, there's three booths for tickets, and your computer will try to get to any of them. By putting one of those in, it will only be directed to one of them, hence decreasing your chances. The reason it worked last year was because See was directing people down a certain route, thus leaving one of the booths empty.

parsonjack
cant you use the IP address of the server to get onto the pages? or is it not that simple almost certainly not. the web server is probably expecting incoming traffic from a specific URL header so using just the IP might not get you anywhere. siblin
How does this work on a mac anyone? If you have any unix experience, open up terminal sudo su - vi /etc/hosts If you've never used vi though, this will be interesting for you! thesecretingredientiscrime
Yeah, but what if you put all 3 in? What would be the point of that? You'd be telling your computer to do something it was going to do anyway.

Pinhead
No advantage in this - the IP's will be cached according to their TTL on your machine after your first of many visits / refreshes anyway. The only advantage gained was when See *ucked up their public DNS last time around. The 194. addresses all look legit this time around.
