I've heard it's only £3 a meal inside the festival?!

It varies. Some stuff is ludicrously expensive, some stuff isn't.

Stay away from the pre made burgers in giant crusty buns. Horrible.

You MUST try the Rooster testicle stew which is on sale in a little field at the back on the main stage area.

Phew! Got diagnosed with a lung infection last week but have just been to the doctors and been given the all clear - which means I can fly to Sziget next week! Had me worried there, for a little while! I need to get on with some frantic bag packing now, as it's only a few days until I fly!

What are people doing about taking cash to Sziget? I understand the 'Festipay' system where you put money on a card and then use that, but how do people transfer money onto the card? Do you use cash or do it direct from your bank card? I'm not 100% certain that may bank card will work for this. I have a UK bank account but live in the Netherlands and find that my UK bank card doesn't work over here, when paying for stuff (it works for withdrawing money at cash machines, just not paying in shops and stuff like that). So I don't know whether to take cash over to Hungary with me, try and get some out at the airport when we arrive, or just try to add money to the 'Festipay' card direct from my bank card.

Lets talk money.

What's the best way to take money? Card, cash, travellers cheques, travel money card?

Around your apartman ( basilica ) have many exchange. If you go with cash the that is bit better than card. If you can pay by card ( restaurant etc. ) that is ok but if you need csah ( HUF ) better the exchange. The bank rate £1=390huf the exchange rat in the town £1=400huf. Not too big different but ...

Do not chang on the airport ( luton or liszt ferenc does not matter )

Is the food sold inside the festival site expensive?

From looking at google maps I can that there is a tesco near by, wondering if I should just go there instead of paying a ridiculous amount at the festival[/quote

I think there is no tesco or maybe tesco express but have auchan very cloes to the festival. And true the meal is £3-£5 on the festival

You can top up the festipay card with cash or bank cad ( i dont no working with debit or credit card ). So you can toke cash on the airport ( use your bank card ) and then toping up the festipay card. The minimum top up is 2000huf ( £5 ) max top up 290000huf ( £730 ). If still money on your festipay you can get back any time ( between 11th-17th ).

Feeling very unhappy. Somebody help cheer me up. Just over a week until my flight to Sziget and I've been diagnosed with a lung infection! Currently on antibiotics, fingers well and truly crossed that I'm going to be healthy enough in a week's time.

Last year I went to Sziget on antibiotics and with a 40.2° fever. I was desperate but I had great time as well ;)

Okay 2 questions, packing checklist related.

1. What would you take that you WOULDN'T take to a UK festival like Glastonbury/V

2. What WOULDN'T you take that you would take to a UK festival etc

Ie, what are the differences between the packing lists please?

I'm under the assumption that it's going to be a lot drier and warmer at Sziget, than at Glasto (my iphone weather app has 29-30 degrees for Budapest on Sat, Sun & Monday), so would adjust packing to suit that. So swap your Glasto wellies for some flip flops! I'm not bothering bringing a camping chair to Sziget, mostly because it'll be a pain getting it on the plane. Also not bothering with booze (can't take it into the site) or food (it sounds pretty cheap). Other than that, I don't think I've packed too differently.

I too am happy with that, for the time reason plus I didn't get to catch them at Gasto, this makes up for it!

Thanks for your reply Davey... pretty much as I thought. I shall still be taking a rainmac as I have heard it still rains a bit, but ditching the wellies, chair etc. I have also been told that en eyemask, which I don't usually take, is 'the one' for a foreign fest!
