Lineup 2015

Was that the same year Alt-J played FR? I thought for some reason they were on before he was that year?

No he was definitely on after Don Broco, because that's the only reason I was at that stage. It was the first and only time I have and will ever take advice from this forum on who to see. After watching half of their abortion of a set I had to go and lie down outside the tent, and was still there when Jake Bugg came on.

He was definitely after Don Broco I'm with Tourette, I remember seeing anarchy unfold infront of my eyes as the prepubescent "mosh pit" lovers of the "Don Broco Push-up Crew" seemingly threw themselves around this small sent to what sounded like a fart in bath water

Surely Don Broco are a contender for the worst band ever to play at reading

You noticed that despite being high as a kite? Sounds like bollocks to me.

As it seemed we were the only ones at the back singing along, might of been a different story closer to the front.

Was weird seeing him on the mainstage stage in the dark though, felt wrong.

To be fair there wasn't anything else on. It was either that or Yellowmore's gang abusing the main stage.

I still wouldn't have recommended Don Broco though.

...? The Shins were on the Main Stage at the time. I was gonna watch them but it was pissing it down so I watched Santigold instead, then went into the FR Tent after Don Broco had finished.

It was Odd Future at Reading.

It also was raining. HA!

Ah I they must have overlapped with both actually, because as soon as Odd Future finished we went to Santigold and Don Brock were already on, yeah.

That makes sense actually because I was gonna see The Shins but because of the rain saw Jake Bugg instead.

Someone has tweeted that they met Carl Barat and he told them he was playing Glastonbury with The Libertines.

In reality, if they were to (say) sub Glastonbury as well as headline R&L it'd probably make less difference to ticket sales than Green Day playing the Emirates would. I dunno really. Obviously there's the other arguments such as it making R&L look weak.

I've given up with trying to figure out the possibility of that since everyone jumps down at me because it's a speculative topic.

Whether they are at all three...Time will tell I guess

I'm fairly sure that The Libertines are doing R&L and I'm fairly sure it'll be top spot.

I laugh because If I made that post i'd probably get shit for it.

There's a good chance they will be, neil said that he has heard they are headlining but as always missing that one last nugget of info.

Matt42, the difference is that I never never deviated away from the opinion that Libertines are headlining. You latch onto every single rumour and say "oh, that could be it".

And you don't do it with every rumour, and didn't spend ages in the past trying to convince everyone you get festival info.

Matt, it isn't without reason that people jump down you're throat. Don't play the victim.

I'm pretty sure they'll be headlining myself, or if they're subbing, I hope it's someone good because I can't be arsed with them subbing Mumford and Sons for example

Why? You'll still get to see them so it doesn't really matter.

Anyway if The Libertines are playing R&L, Glasto and T I'm not certain that they'll headline R&L, they're (arguably) a weak headliner and if they play three festivals then it doesn't really do R&L much good. They could headline R&L and T I suppose and get away with sub at Glasto but I doubt it. But if Neil says that he believe they're headlining (I think that is what he said I'll go with it) then I just going to go with that at the end of the day

Yeah but, for instance, he could be wanting to see a full Libertines set in the dark with a proper stage show, and if he doesn't get to see that, he'd like that slot to go to another good band he'd enjoy rather than Mumford and Sons.

Same with QOTSA last year, I'd have wanted to see them headline, or, if not, sub to someone good. If either of those situations happened I'd have gone. In the end they subbed Paramore at Leeds so I didn't go.

    • I guess we should also not underestimate that the Slowdive sound person is probably not quite used to open-air daytime performances in such a large, open area. 🙂 I imagine it's very different from mixing the sound in a tent. Plus, even though I was openminded about it at first - you never know how things might sound or work out in a different setting if you don't try - I just don't think their sound is very suited for this kind of setting, it really benefits from darkness and a nice light show and all that. Still, nice that they got to give it a try.
    • i agree, was really disappointed by the Slowdive sound (we were fairly close to the podium) also if you consider that for all other main stage acts i saw they got it perfectly right.
    • Thanks man for sharing your thoughts. I would say i generally agree with you and do agree people close to the podium should position themselves further back if they want to have full conversations and apparently are not interested in the music; to fair it is mind boggling these people are even there as chatting gets so much easier in the back field. That said i did not really have the same experience as you, front rows for example at MBV, Men I trust, Big Thief, NewDad, Slowdive, where really into the music.    yes i BBK is really high on our list but we just realized it is next year 25 years of Primavera so perhaps we do one more.
    • When does the Thursday lineup get announced? I see they had Moonchild Sanelly and Young Knives last year, would be cool to get something along those lines again.
