Electric Blue sounds like it'd be pretty good live, or at least become a really great remix. Not one I would listen to again and again on record, but then again the same goes for Sprawl 2. Regine's high voice works well in the bass-heavy live setting, but on record is always a tiny bit too shrill.

I'm guessing this album will be a bit middle of the road, but sound great live. Not bad, just not outstanding like they've been up to now.

I think so far I'd rate them...

Going to try to avoid hearing it again until it’s as part of the full album, but based on one listen I like it a lot. Hits a similar emotional spot to It’s Never Over, which is up their with my very favourite songs of theirs, so that’s a good sign. Wonder if it might be one they don’t play live though, as with Porno.

Overall I think it’s a very strong set of singles, although my excitement for the album is pretty low having listened to the live recording of Chemistry (which sounds like it’ll be their worst song to date) and overplayed the other songs. The Infinite Content tracks are too short to get excited about, and then there’s only a few unheard songs left.

I love Régine's voice. But I find it rather annoying in this. Feels too edited and high pitched. Compare it to the Sprawl ll and this is really bad in my opinion. Still looking forward to the album but going against the general consensus on this one, not a fan.

I was lucky enough to be at Maida Vale yesterday. It was unreal. The band were on top form. They started with Everything Now and finished with Neon Bible. Creature Comfort was my personal highlight. It was about an hour long set. It will be broadcast on Radio 1 on the 2nd of August.

Electric Blue bangssss. Makes me think of Grimes.

Grimes x Regine duo album when?

The more I listen to it, the more it sounds like Broken Social Scene to me. Almost has that Anthem for a Seventeen Year Old Girl vibe with the swelling music and repetitive chanting lyrics building up to a steady groove in the bridge.

I'd love to hear Electric Blue live with it starting quite simple and slow and building up to a cacophony by the end. The record has quite similar levels all the way through.

One of Cerys's listeners has spotted this.

They've made no secret about the sample. He's performed with them at all their French shows, I believe.

edit: His son has performed with them. Obviously not him. :P

That's a lot of links. Any chance of a summary of the weirdness?

“Barrington, don’t forget the Xbox One!” [Régine] adds. She turns to me. “It was here that I used that wonderful device for the first time. I achieved a state of absorption so deep that, afterward, I wrote half the record.”
