Arcade Fire

That was astounding, one of the best gigs i've ever been to the crowd were so up for it it was unreal. By far one of the best gigs i've ever been to. When they brought out the drum and said "We thought we would keep this one for a special occasion" then started banging their way through Wake Up i couldn't help but get carried away. Was drenched in sweat all the way through and i don't think i will ever forget this, a landmark in my gigging history of Glasgow as it may seem :) The part where they played the into to 'Today' by The Smashing Pumpkins made me lose my shit, thought they might have actually played it :(

I had a feeling they would finish with Wake up tonight after Win talking at the SECC gig about it being a Scottish sounding song or something and how they always end with it in Glasgow. Anyways they would be amazing Glastonbury headliners, the songs off Reflektor work really well live and Reflektor is a cracking song to start with. Best gig I've been to in a long time.

I forgot to mention the other day; I read that Hurricane, Southside, Northside and Hultsfred are all run by the same company and usually share many acts, so if Arcade Fire are also announced for Hultsfred (they've already been announced for the other three) then that'd be them doing two festivals on the same weekend as Isle of Wight, practically ruling out the notion of them 'taking IOW money over Glasto'.

Wouldn't really make them any more likely for Glastonbury as that's entirely down to whether Eavis thinks they're good for a headline slot or not, but it's worth considering I suppose.

i'll take any little glimmer of hope that it could be them! guess we'll have to wait for this other festival to announce it's lineup to get IOW out of the way

Track 11 was apparently Today Your Love, Tomorrow the World by Ramones

still, rather lovely setlist. imagine a couple of the reflektor tracks stripped off, and a couple NB/Suburbs numbers sprinkled in. with Headlights Look Like Diamonds. on the pyramid

yep

I'm going to be more qualified with my praise. It was indeed a good - sometimes great - gig, but after wheeling out Wake Up as the second song for me it peaked early in the section from there up into Sprawl II. After that, it really brought home how little I care for huge chunks of the new material.

Top Caribbean ethnography tip: Anyone impressed by the big B&W photos of Haiti with which they'd adorned the venue, they're from this book:

Just did this to try get a feel for what they might play, so tried to keep it realistic, based on past setlists. Even missing a few gems, that would be such a great headline set.

This is my pick of those posted so far... Epic start, finish to the main set and then encore. I'll just borrow the bowie appearance from one of the other setlists. With this he can appear for the opening and closing songs.
