What he said... although I probably would watch Madonna and enjoy it.

Can we all just agree that Cave is playing, though? We can argue the specifics later but they're going to be there (but only if I am).

Unfortunately I don't really see them playing next year. It'll have been two years since Skeleton Tree was released and they've done all the European fests around Glasto this year.

Maybe the Eavii can convince them to play as a one off like The National, mind (if it was a headline slot they'd obviously be more likely to do this). They presumably have a good relationship with the band.

Following the adulation I've seen him get on here i'm going to give the music a go.

Where should I start? It would feel like i'd cheated if i went straight for the "essentials" or "greatest hits"

It's an impossible question really. Let Love In or Tender Prey seems like a good place, but almost all of their albums are different from each other, so even if you didnt like the two I've suggested, then you would probably like some of the others....

As someone else said, check out the greatest hits and then listen to the album of the tracks you liked off it. Most of the album tracks are better than the songs picked for the greatest hits imo...

Also, google "glastonbury 2013 nick cave jubilee street". It's well ace.

Awh man they've taken his live at Fonda Theatre set off his site, hopefully gearing up for the full DVD release of Live in Copenhagen...

This is an awful jumping off point but it's incredibly satisfying and has soundtracked the last 15 minutes of work on a Friday for many years

Deanna. Then brought the crowd with him on stage for Stagger Lee. What a night.

Ahhh, right. Was hoping to find a video of it somewhere...

Deanna was probably one of the best live songs I've heard this year. The area of the crowd I was in was great, seemed like everyone was having the time of their life tbh. I miss it :(

I'm a pretty recent fan and I would say my favourites include

Jubilee Street

Higgs Boson Blues

From Her To Eternity

Magneto (any live version, the arrangement is so much better)

Into My Arms

The Weeping Song

Some would say I'm a typical "new fan" who prefers the mellow stuff!

I am not sure he could heading Glastonbury.  Amazing if 35,000 - 40,000 really did go to APE (it certainly seemed incredibly busy) but I think it would be a light crowd...

You guys get the email about the Red Hand Files? Looks like this will be good. Here's some new lyrics Nick posted in response to a fan's question about his writing:

FIREFLIES

Jesus lying in his mother’s arms
Is a photon released from a dying star
We move through the forest at night
The sky is full of exit wounds of light
Everything we need is just too far
We are fireflies a child has trapped in a jar
I am here and you are where you are
I am here and you are where you are

We have lived a long time in the forest
We lie beneath the heaps of leaves
We are partial to this partial light
We cannot sleep and fear our dreams
There is no order here, nothing can be planned
We are fireflies trapped in a little boy’s hand
We are photons released from a dying star
I am here and you are where you are
I am here and you are where you are

We lie among our atoms and I speak to you of things
And hope sometimes that maybe you will understand
There is no order here and there is no middle ground
Nothing can be predicted and nothing can be planned
We are fireflies pulsing dimly in the dark
We are here and you are where you are
We are here and you are where you are
