A lot of my feminist friends are refusing to drop their maiden names and are double barrelling with their new husbands surnames.

But of course we're forgetting Fur_q's 1st law of statistics*.

So 5 out of 305 Tories means a prevalence of 16.4 ‰ and 3 out of 257 Labour MPs = 11.6 ‰ therefore there are 43.1% more Tory MPs with double barrelled names.

I'd call that statistically significant.

*numerators are meaningless without denominators.

1.6% Tory 1.2% Labour.

i.e. very little difference.

Nothing odd or misleading about using permille where numerators are so small, not my fault you can't read mathematical symbols. On the evidence you presented there is a significant (and statistically valid) diffrence.
