I'm very grateful to those of you who know more than me for explaining whats going on; and although I'm lurking and not posting I must have checked this thread every hour at least for the past week or two.

But can anyone explain to me why the word 'unsettled' is used as a euphemism for rain? It just seems such a weedy phrase - a bit like the way the doctor says 'you might feel a bit of discomfort' before inflicting great pain.

'Unsettled' is the way that I've been nervously checking every weather forecast that the internet can provide at least twice while I've been writing this post...

Morning campers. Pilton had a couple of hours of very light drizzle overnight, nothing much and is drying beautifully now. It is grey and bright with enough of a breeze to stir the trees. The ground remains hard, Geoff Boycott's key would still bend and it is a reverse swing day.

This morning's updates over on Netweather model output discussion thread, are only just starting to be discussed, but even the worst (= least good, to be honest) of them, from ECM, now seems to show any rain next Saturday more less confined to the North of England and Northern Ireland/Scotland. Even with that, decline in High Pressure should on current projections remain relative for our corner. Also, that model shows lots of High Pressure strong in the SW before and probably after Saturday anyway.

And another set of models (GFS) shows HP dominating throughout.

Yes, I agree, this LOOKS better than 2010. Stick!

Bring boots (I bought new ones on Wednesday) and waterproofs anyway,but make even more damned sure to bring shorts and sunbloc and sunhat as well, I'm currently thinking ....

And no, Glastonbury is NEVER too hot. Not for 1997/1998/2007/part of 2011 survivors!!!!! My sympathy with 'too hot' complaints is limited after a few mudbaths!

But this year, mudbath likelihood looking low, thankfully. Dry weather, no mud? If that verifies, there's inevitable swings and roundabouts. Just after Solstice, when the sun is highest in the sky. That means at least warm, and on current forecasts, possibly hot. Them's the breaks.

You can shelter/protect yourself from the sun ..... but you can't sit down in the mud (unless you're a freak ......oh, OK then)

(Don't forget loads of Glastonbury happens as the sun's lower down, and after dark, anyway ... )

Page 4 of Metro (London) says that forecasters predict a washout. No source, no further detail. Still lazy journalism like this might counter King Michael's comments and appease the weather gods (NFR NFC ... sorry taking no chances at this late stage!)

Has there been murmuring's on the forums of temperatures climbing into mid / high twenties for the festival? I thought we were looking pretty much dry with temps around 18-20, do the latest midels increase the temps for the festival?

Thats what we need, GMS instead of TMS - Glasto Mud Special. Blowers sits on a chair in the Bandstand and provides commentary on everyone/everything he sees walking past during the day. Priceless

Most bizarre weather here, up north- warm fog (steam?) and a cool breeze- how is such a thing possible?!

Don't fret about the temperature- 20 degrees will seem hotter out in fields than it does in the city. And if you find it too hot you can always go see something in a tent in silver Hayes, the circus fields or John Peel.
