Blackout 3/4 man tent (really no more than two peeps and their stuff) for £70 from the evil robber-barons of Amazon but still...

I'm in the position of having to buy a new tent for the first time in 8 years, and absolutely clueless That doesn't look a bad shout, may invest

Check out this one too. If I was in the market for a new tent it's what I'd get.

Anybody bought a decent 70l+ rucksack for a relatively inexpensive price? My 20 year old rucksack gave up on life recently so need a new one. Ta!

EDIT: JUST FOUND THE BLACKS ONE POSTED EARLIER IN THE THREAD.

As expensive as it is, I'm seriously considering this for general travelling and it could be handy for Glasto:

It might allow a couple more luxuries that I've not previously had at Glasto, something about taking that to a festival doesn't feel right though ?

I will give a big up-vote for the coleman blackout tent. I got the 2-manner for solo camping last summer and it's great. Not tried it out in really hot conditions yet (it's meant to be a bit cooler), but was I ever sleeping in late rather than being woken by the sun.

Can anyone recommend any comfortable women's lightweight trainers / walking shoes for the festival? I have wellies and boots, but the boots are too heavy for 5 days and it's not going to rain anyway (though I will be taking wellies to appease the weather gods). I usually just wear Converse if it's dry but 2017 was the last year I'm doing that - I'm getting too old and my feet can't cope anymore. Thanks in advance!

Mrs Tarw got these a few years ago.  Not cheap but very light and comfortable.  I’ll echo what others have said though.  Got to try them on what is 5* comfort for her could be agony for you.  https://www.merrell.com/UK/en_GB/siren-edge-q2-waterproof/33320W.html?dwvar_33320W_color=J77530#cgid=merrell-hike-womens&prefn1=technologyCollection&prefv1=GORE-TEX®&start=1

Looks like LIDL had some camping gear in the 'middle of Lidl' last week. I was in there today and they had labels on the shelf for a Self-inflating Thermal mat £14.99, Sleeping bag £14.99 and 70L Hiking Rucksack £29.99. The Lidl I was in only had the rucksacks left, plenty of them though (no idea if they are any good).

The sleeping mat looks like it is this type: https://www.lidl-ni.co.uk/en/special-offers.htm?articleId=13844 rather than the lilo one they used to sell.

These are most definitely trainers rather than walking boots, but if the weather is decent you cannot go wrong with a pair of nike fly knits. They pull on so no lace messing around and are will be the comfiest shoes you ever own! (I used to wear vans every year and my poor knees gave up in recent years at the ripe old age of 29, so find these a lifesaver!)

I think it was a few weeks back now.  They only had about five left on the Sunday they went on sale so we thought we better get a couple while we could, leaving three on the shelf.  My husband went back (for something else) at the end of the week and they still had the three left and had reduced them!

Aldi have camping stuff in again - hopefully I haven't cursed the weather for Glasto but I bought a box of "Hard ground" tent pegs for £7.99 to replace the cheapo ones that came with my tent that got hopelessly bent out of shape in 2017.

They also have cans of waterproofing spray - I'll get tent out this weekend, do a test erection and give it a quick waterproofing (just in case).

My boss is big walker and she recommended Merrell too, it seems like a good brand. I just need to find an actual shop that sells them so I can try them on!

I was considering trainers but worried they wouldn't have the same support as walking shoes. Have you worn them for a Glasto and were your feet still OK by the end of the festival?
