You shouldn't be allowed at Glastonbury if you don't know any Beatles songs (discuss)

I have to let off steam somewhere and this seems like the best place. A girl behind me at work has been moaning about going to see the Bootleg Beatles because they don't know any Beatles songs. Seriously. And she also said they were at Glasto when she went. How can this be? I am absolutely incredulous that people like that are going to the best festival in the world.

If I only achieve one thing in my life, it's to give good music taste to my daughter. I'm in shock.

Why stop at Glasto? No one should be allowed anywhere if they know no Beatles songs. The Beatles should be on school curriculums (also, I think there should be more English in school curriculums, because i'm pretty sure i'm spelling curriculum wrong).

I wholeheartedly agree.

The impact of the Beatles on pretty much every guitar band, whether they admit it or not, is huge. The light-years ahead of anything at the time. 50 years since Please Please Me, tell me any band since that will still sound as fresh in half a centuries time?? I cannot imagine a phenomenon such as them, socially, musically, politically to come from four chaps playing instruments ever again.

A girl I work with had a ticket for Glastonbury in 2011, she's not the type to go to gigs or even really talk about music - but she told me that she was going to Glastonbury as she knew I went every year.

During in the conversation (I can't quite remember why) I said something about Michael Eavis - only for her to ask "who's he?" - I then said to her that she should find out who's party it is before going to it.

I do think a quick easy music test should be in place as people buy tickets - I know that sounds snobby but even if these people took a guess at the answers it may teach them something.

A 18 year old I work with told me last week that Rhianna is more influential to music than David Bowie

But, taking personal taste out of the question, don't you think that the Beatles are better known than either of those? Don't get me wrong, I have friends who don't like the Beatles. But to profess to not know a single song by them blows my mind

That's no reason to ban someone from a festival though. If anything its a reason for them to go, they obviously need some musical education.

Its easy to forget though that people turning 18 now were born 25 years are the Beatles split. The Beatles are becoming classical
