'Name' mentioned alert to user

On some forums if you type the '@' before a users name, i.e.

@Staberinde

The user gets an alert that he has been mentioned in a post?

Does this sytem work here? If not, can it be implemented please?

I've no idea if it does that here, but I guess it doesn't as you're asking. You might be able to have it here if it gets included in a future release of the forums software (if it's becoming a feature in other forums software, I'd guess it will). i keep the forums software up-to date (ish ... I don't put it in place immediately after release, but wait a while for the bigger bugs to get ironed out).

As this is a new one on me, how does the user get the alert?
