titcher
My husband and I are headed to Glastonbury for the first time from Canada. This is also my first time to the UK. I have to admit, I'm a little overwhelmed.
Girlex521
I'm a complete festical newbie, and while I'm thankfully going with a group of veterans, having a look at an old map...what are the easiest things to look out for to orientate yourself? I can see a lot of 'where am I?' moments!!

ian the worm
My specialist subject. I use a 1.5l Lenor bottle for in the tent at night. It has the widest mouth of any of the fabric conditioner bottles in tesco. It's water tight, large capacity and smells nice. Your name, however, suggests you might have less in the way of appendages for placing in the hole than I do. Which leaves you with two options, I reckon. First, a she-pee. Anatomically moulded plastic that basically becomes the afformentioned appendage allowing you to use what we call The Nocturinal (aren't portmanteaux words all the rage these days?). The second is a travel john. Amazon do them. 20 quid or so for 18 of them. They are also anatomically moulded, but have a bag attached which has crystals in that absorb it all. Well over a pint capacity, so if your bladder is small, you can get three or four uses out of it at night. You can also stick one or two in your day bag if you have one. The Nocturinal won't really allow for that.
lpoolpete
My first time was 2011 after arriving from Liverpool at 6.45am on the Wednesday then queuing for 7 hours for gate D through 3 heavy downpours we got out tents up in the Dairy Ground around 2.30 then we all went to sleep for a few hours Some of the posters are right it did seem a quieter spot (We where just by the toilets near Gate E) But it was a long walk through that mud from the main stages. The only drugs i seen where a few people having a joint I went with 2 of my daughters and 4 of their friends I would do my own thing of a day and meet up with them of a night Id pack me little back pack with 10 cans of koppaberg and stroll down to the left field and comedy tents I seen some great bands on the Glade stage and i took part in a massive game of twister. Thing im bringing with me this year is a space blanket as the sun is as worse then the rain in glasto as theres no shade and your tent turns into an oven especially if its dark in colour By the way im 52 and I love it im going with my two daughters again this year but working and I cant wait . Thearg
As with most festivals they fill up the car park one at a time and then move onto the next field to fill up,so all depends on how many turn up on the day and how fast they can pack em in,so to try to arrive at a specific time, for a car park, well your asking the impossible. As for the queues at the gate its just common sense really and the British sense of fair play (oh how we love an orderly queue) as long as your'e there for most of the time, obviously you have to pop to the loo occasionally, and you can take in turns to go back for your stuff but I would bring it all at once if I were you as it can be a very long walk.
