This song was recorded by the band Python Lee Jackson - an Australian group who'd moved to the UK and were spotted by John Peel, who was the producer. The band's lead singer didn't think he was up to the job so Rod Stewart was brought in as a session singer to record the vocals. After a couple of re-releases it finally made it to Number 3.
