There is a natural progression from the first three isn't there? They state the peace between man and machines will last as long as it lasts, in the mean time the machines create the little Indian girl to try to understand love as they were caught out by Neo's decisions not being made by logic but based on Trinity. The problem is that doesn't explain why they are both in this movie so I'm guessing its taken a different direction.

I’m guessing there’s an aspect of Neo being kept dulled/blue pilled by the machines in the Matrix and there being a Trinity there to keep him happy and then somehow he’s taken out again by Morpheus Jr and then shit goes down.

Hope it does get weird. Trailer definitely gives off big Force Awakens rehash vibes but I can’t imagine they’re dumb enough to go down that route, especially with the potential of where they could go here. My expectations are pretty low though I must admit so a pleasant surprise is about as good as I’m expecting.

I wouldn't be shock if the film plays it safe, after a string of big budget flops they aren't gonna be let near something with a $200m budget again if this isn't successfull which is probably why they went back to The Matrix to begin with.

Well its the same writing team (ish) as Cloud Atlas so itll be weird. Be surprised if they made a safe sci fi.

I read somewhere that the time between this matrix and the original is the same amount of time between the first star wars and the phantom menace which is a cool stat.

In keeping with this, what will be the summer 99 coming-outta-nowhere spoiler film that the Matrix was to Phantom Menace?

Dune, obviously, although we all expect that to be both great and massive.

Colour me sceptical. This is the film thats going to save the cinema industry, is anyone really going to pan it?

163 mins is already putting me off. If they are serious about it saving the cinema they should have made it shorter so they can show it more during the day.

I've started seeing proper reviews and fan reviews, basically better than Spectre but still not as good as Casino Royale/Skyfall.

They have gone proper crazy with the showings, my local is showing only one other film and it has one time slot. I was thinking about going to see Malignant but there's no chance of that now.

Just got back from Bond. Really can't say much but I did enjoy it. Possibly even my favourite Daniel Craig era film. Maybe tied with Casino Royale. For reference I enjoyed Casino Royale, thought Quantum of Solace was a pile of shit (like everyone else), fell asleep during Skyfall in the cinema, which I think is a fairly damning review. I do appreciate I'm in a minority on that score. And quite enjoyed Spectre even though it was a bit daft.

Just saw No Time to Die myself. I really wanted to love it as, despite their flaws along the way, I’ve been a big fan of the Daniel Craig Bond films, and there was a lot to like here, but unfortunately I just found that a lot of it had been done better in his previous films. Like, there were very few real standout action set pieces and stunts, the overall evil plot was a bit silly, even for a Bond film, and the villain himself was total shit and had about fifteen minutes of screen time.

I think the fact that this film served as a somewhat sequel to Spectre didn’t help as it had to tie up some loose ends started there, which started out well as the first half an hour or so pre-credits was non-stop action and probably my favourite bit of the film, but it couldn’t keep up that momentum unfortunately.

Looking forward to when everybody’s seen this to hear some opinions on the whole thing!

Oh, aye. The only person I can talk about it with is the person I saw it with. And we were literally checking around to make sure no one was in earshot before talking about it

A film that was recently in cinema and has just been released on Disney plus is Free Guy.

It’s a great feel good film. Definitely aimed at the gamer generation.

Only time I've been to the cinema of late was a double bill of Black Widow and that. Black Widow I thought was OK but Free Guy was delightful and agree with that review.

No Time to Die will probably feature at some point. Plan is to go cinema but not until an upcoming period where I have a few days off work so can go at like 1pm or something.

I thought it was alright, nothing special to be honest. Spoilers, at the end where Killing Eve gets dumped by Ryan Reynolds so she makes do with the human made me laugh. It wasn't as reference heavy as Ready Player One at least, it actually reminded me of The Lego Movie more than Ready Player One. Nothing will ever touch Scott Pilgrim as the love letter to games movie.

It’s like Lego Movie crossed with GTA and The Matrix.

Ready Player One was definitely aimed at those who were kids in the 80s. Free Guy is aimed at the next generation after that.
