I don't relate to Pulp's songs. I listen because I like the music. And it would be extremely unfair for me to not be allowed to see them live just because I wasn't around in their hey day. Thankfully I got to see them at Leeds last year and will see them at Sheffield this year, and I'm glad to have this opportunity.

bowie played loads of hits that night. Off the top of my head he defo played ziggy stardust, rebel rebel, all the young dudes, china girl, suffragette city plus others I cant remember. He had a new album out that year (which actually was a decent album) so why on earth would he just play stuff from the 70s and 80s??

Fuck that, If I see a band at a festival I want the hits, its not time to be pushing a new album, save that for your own gigs. I went to IOW 2004, the Saturday night The Who played a greatest hits set (still the best thing Ive ever seen), Sunday night Bowie played and pushed his new album, played B sides and remixes of Heroes and Under Pressure and just took the shine off what could have been a legendary performance if he just stuck to the hits.

I agree they don#t want to overdo it but I've got the attention span to cope with 4-5 new songs dotted throughout a set no problem, any band with sense will play the hits as well. Pulp have got 0 new songs. Not one. It would be the same as when I saw them last year which was the same as when I saw them in 1996 which was the same as when I saw them in 1995. No point at all, for me.

Age has got nothing to do with it. I'm an old c**t but there are still bands i never got the chance to see because they'd split up or died before i could see them. But you know what? That's fine. It meant that i was able to go out and find my own music, i could create my own heyday rather than vicariously reliving someone elses. Fortunately, the nostalgia marketing hype wasn't quite as prevalent and all encompassing 20 years ago as it is now.

There never was a golden age, don't spend your youth watching middle-aged men trying to sell you theirs.

Most people seem to be happier with reformed bands headlining festivals than newer acts. There's always loads of complaining when acts with only 2 or 3 albums are booked to headline.

I was really happy when Pulp reformed and I've seen a few acts in the last few years who I didn't get to see the first time round. So I'm all for bands reforming as long as they're good live and at least look like they're having fun.

In some years, I don't think there are enough big acts available to headline festivals. I would rather they took a gamble booking an act who might not be big enough but will give an amazing live performance.

His 2000 Glastonbury set pissed all over this, If I remember rightly he actually introduced quicksand as "this is a B side that probably not that many of you will know", then dont play it then, the start with Rebel Rebel were he was just a black silhouette was stunning but after the covers and remixe of Heroes I just felt underwhelmed. Not even my fave Bowie song to finish couldnt stop me feeling dissapointed after what Id seen the previous night with The Who.

He's David Bowie FFS, as if he needs to plug a new album. He could fart into a trumpet, release it tomorrow and people would still buy it.

I saw Bowie on the reality tour and he rocked. And didn't he play all of Station to Station at Glastonbury? I fuckin love that. It's not the side effects of the cocaine, I think it must be love ....

that tour was sensational. Have you got the a reality tour album? if not you must. I listen to it once a week at least. Wonderful versions of life on mars, five years, fantastic voyage, decent version of slip away (I like that song more than I should), all the young dudes...no station to station though sadly.

I do remember station to station at glastonbury, couldnt say if was the full 10mins or not but I do recall getting all the words wrong apart from the thin white duke lines, my memory is hazy. I do vividly remember absolute beginners though and telling my girlfried of the time how we'd definitely have that as the first dance at our wedding...I have no idea why I was so full of love also, I must have picked up the vibes from you, defintely nothing else in my system to blame of course..

sigh how can anyone who was at the isle of wight gig complain when that was one of the last shows he will ever do

Yeah brilliant, music is about being in the moment, not a money driven re hash . Primal scream supporting told you everything you need to know, mani pointing out to Brown etc how much they could make. I went on the Sunday and it wad meaningless. They were only adiquate at their pomp. The crowd was abysmal too

By the sounds of it, they were ok at T in the Park. Brilliant if you're a mega-fan and knew all the words to every song, but otherwise pretty dull.

I would also say that The Stone Roses at Heaton park were probably a damn site better then any of the shows that they played towards the end of their run.

I just enjoy things for what they are. Look to much into anything and you'll find flaws.
