we used to have a VW camper van that was less secure than a carrier bag...you could get in with harsh language. I once unlocked the driver's door with my front door key

that's nowt unique to VWs or campervans. The average Ford car until around 1990 could be opened with just about anything as the key.

I have stayed in tent at Glasto, tried the out of festival disaster that was Myhab in 2010 and also the west campervan field last year. Preferred taking my campervan last year above them all (probably as i am getting on a bit-45). Dont necessarily agree with the comment about the atmosphere in the campervan field-i also appreciate we may have been lucky as we were surrounded by like minded people who were all good company and very friendly. Only comment i can make on the difference between the west and east fields is that west is probably a little further away from a central point (e.g Other/NME Stage) than the east however the east is at the top of the "Hill of Death"! Whatever option you choose i would say you should at least try camping inside the festival at least once-it really isnt scary!

Our old trailer tent had a steel stongbox bolted to the floor under one of the beds with a padlock on it. We chose to fit a combination padlock so that any of our gang could go back for bits and pieces, cash etc. I'm trying to find similar for our caravan. (Any links appreciated).

Sure it won't deter the determined but most thieves want a quick in and out and it might be enough to discourage.

    • belated thanks for this ended up going, was a good evening and a great venue with a cracking beer selection (give the festival a few tips on that). Never been in before despite reasonably local.       Main takeaways from the film (as someone who didnt go for much later). The festival has changes a lot since then apart from the Green Fields that looked the exact same.  Me and my mate both agreed that Shambala is today than Glastonbury.   Cool piece of merch aswell.
