Right, I know the godlike/legendary/up-and-coming thing was obviously going to be complete shit, but who on earth told Yellow the headliners would be flashier and rockier? This set is the least flashy I could imagine, and certainly no more rocky than usual.

Ugh.

Just general marketing lingo init

NIA was really empty at the back last week too, it always seems like that even when the show is sold out, every show there looks like you could have fit an extra couple of thousand in IMO.

And Bullet aren't really a sitting down type of band either, I'd expect the seating to be completely empty ha ha

You have to admit they're far too big for NME. Arena bands just don't play that stage anymore. When was the last arena band to play it?

Oh yes agree, probably manics.

Bullet are far too big to headline NME these days, they want to push on to become headliner at Download in upcoming years, Copping had a absolute fit that System had agreed to sub Green Day at Reading last year saying its ruined their chances of headlining Download again, he's been grooming Bullet for years I can't see them accepting anything other than sub at Reading, they know it would be career suicide

It seems somewhat logical to me, I can hardly see them stepping up 2 slots since last time at r&l and they'll never be as popular at r&l as at download or soni. It depends depends on how bullet want to move their career forward. Option A pigeon hole themselves as headliners of only download and occasionally soni and never make it any further up the r&l bill. Or option B try to maximise exposure even across the mainstream by working up the r&l bill at the same time and getting a chance to move up to the top at both. Maybe they can do 3rd and skip the NME headline but I can't see them stepping to far up at r&l without working through the top positions.

On the system front has it though? Really, Copping would book them again at a drop of a ha. r&l are bigger festivals added to the nice of download it's why they've had acts like prodigy and system subbing and download could only get them on a headline. I couldn't see a7x taking top spot at r&l next year but they could probably sub.

In terms of this co-headline, and people saying it's an excuse to book two smaller headliners; that's not a fair way to look at QOTSA/Paramore co-headlining this year. Everyone accepted one of them would headline, and therefore accepted we would get one of them subbed by a smaller act. So, having them both co-headline is actually the opposite of a cop out, surely?

Blink-182, Arctic Monkeys and QOTSA/Paramore is stronger than Blink-182, Arctic Monkeys and QOTSA with a normal sub.

Yeah I don't see the problem with it at all to be honest. I mean I'd prefer a bigger headliner with qotsa subbing but shit happens. Blink 182 happens.

    • €225 plus fees (as a 2026 ticketholder and with Revolut) is a crazy good deal.
    • I don't think PJ has as much broad appeal in the UK as GNR has. Rock listeners will know Alive and Jeremy so on, but which songs would a random person off the street know? With GNR you have Welcome To The Jungle, Sweet Child O Mine and Paradise City to name a few.
