Am I right in thinking the FR Stage gets completed in July? A friend from college who knows Proxies well asked them if they're playing Leeds and they said they find out in July. Not sure if that means they're wanting/hoping/expecting to play, but I just thought I'd share it.

Any word on The Joy Formidable? Everyone seemed convinced they'd be there before the announcement, i have been off here for a while though so may have missed something..

As for Melvin, traditionally he doesn't do any of the bookings other than lending his weight behind persuading headliners to get on board. And while he oversees the whole thing he doesn't get his hands dirty booking the likes of the FR stage. Neil Pengelly spoke at great length about booking the FR last year in interviews, I specifically remember him talking about the process of booking FIDLAR before they'd ever played in the UK.

Yeah I know Melvin doesn't actually book any bands but I swear I remember him saying something like

"...and the FR stage is great for people who love new music as we approach bands late on to keep it fresh and current"

Maybe they were both bigging it up :P

I'm hoping The Joy Formidable are going to be at that Portsmouth thing with The Cribs. They added Delphic the other day

David Cameron is a twat," he says. "He carries himself with the attitude that he's Prime Minister because he thinks he should be, which is a deeply unpleasant trait. I wouldn't vote for that c**t. But I'm amused when people spout that 'Nick Clegg stabbed me in the back' stuff, because the Lib Dems have always been a deeply unprincipled mish-mash of unrealistic bullshit. They're all politicians at the end of the day so fuck 'em all."

Pretty much sums up he's got a poor view of politicians in general, therefore the Thatcher fucked the kids song doesn't really make him a hypocrite, in my opinion of course :P

Not really. He's always hated Cameron/Tories. It was down to the fact that he/the press around him originally portrayed him to be this left wing/anarchist figure, but then he came out with all this libertarian stuff, more suited to the Tea Party/centre right wing Republicans in America. I suspect if they weren't as fascist as they are, he'd be UKIP.

    • Blame it on the side-by-side setup. There are cases where it works well - got a great location in front of the middle screen for Bexter Dury-Big Thief-Little Simz, just had to move about 20 meters each time for a great location. But on most cases it sucks
    • was happy to swerve the main stages on Saturday, but thought it was fine for The Cure, we just went down the opposite side & got a decent spot close to the front, everyone into it (admittedly a bit off to the side)   a festival that now books Olivia Rodrigo as a surprise set isn't going to get any smaller, for better or for worse it is miles apart from when I was first going   personally I still find the people amazing, never have any hassle & the line ups are always so strong & diverse.  We will definitely return for the 25th anniversary next year!
    • I love this festival but Mordor has got worse and worse to the point now that I dread going there. 10 years ago there just weren’t as many people, as many bottlenecks and there wasnt the need to arrive early to have a decent spot.
    • Aren't they against touring?
    • If my memory serves me right, it was the other way round - when PS 2022 lineup was released it was already confirmed that she plays Barcelona in May.
