2013 Lineup

On the rum front the old sailor jerrys was to die for, but they changed up the recipie for the American market and made it crap.

However one of the gents behind sailor jerrys brought out the old recipie And called it Old J, not entirely the same as old recipie sailor jerrys, but damn close and lovely too.

Only problem is online is just about the only place that sells it and at £18-20 quid it's expensive....

You had Bacardi oakheart? That's also good.

I think with rum it's easy to spice and flavour, so manufacturers can get more out of it and appeal to the masses. I don't think other spirits can offer that. Red stag is nice but it's far too sickly.

Ooo this is interesting, a man I was talking to yesterday who has had connections with reading festival

(He actually convinced me to come in 2010), gave me some insider info about this year, nothing big and nothing outlandish just interesting.

He said that for a period of time they believed Green Day were going to pull out due to Billy's rehab, and they booked System Of A Down as a strong subheadliner, just in case Green Day did pull out of arrangements so they could bump them up to headliner. That situation never occurred so they are sub headlining He also said that they are getting quite a lengthy set!

System will get around 1 hour 20 I imagine. They do short headliner sets in the scheme of things at other fests, and baring in mind reading are giving some headliners 3 hour sets these days, I think it's feasible. Probably means the bands earlier will get less though

Florence got 80 minutes last year, which was the longest of the three. I imagine System will get the same, yeah. Green Day will probably get at least 150 minutes, which means thats a good 4 hours of the day taken up by just the top two... (plus breaks in between of course)

    • We head out in the morning. Couple of nights in New York then up to Boston. Enjoy the games lads and hopefully we get some great football to take our minds off the whole shitshow off the pitch.
    • White Stripes/QotSA at Harewood 2007, Tramlines (and Blue Dot, same weekend) in '23, and Elbow at Jodrell Bank '13.
    • Yeah exactly, the shock moments, group layouts, etc all end up playing out differently once you get into the tournament. However you tweak it, you don't predict shocks.
