The R&L exclusive headliner precedent isn't enough to rule them out 100% because there's always the chance that this year they could go against it, no matter how unlikely it is. Nobody will know for sure until the announcements are made but like I said if you choose to ignore the obvious and concentrate on the 1% possibility then fair enough.

I was 18 back in '07, hadn't bought NIN on release but had 10 CDs by them by the time I went to R+L (a couple copied off mates).

I've got ~1k CDs, ok, collected over the last 12 years, but about 900 of them I got for £5 or less. Just shop around, save your money, find indie CD stores that do cheap deals. It's really easy to cheaply acquire albums that have been out more than a year. I'm constantly playing catchup (hardly buy anything at release prices).

Not disagreeing with that, but even the songs I knew and loved played in an encore sounded like dirge. I was so disappointed as I'd been wanting to see her for years. Hadn't been able to afford tickets when she'd last been in the UK.

Yeah that's what I'm currently doing, although right now all I have is £120 and I still have £150 of my Leeds ticket to pay :P

I might get a bunch off Amazon when I'm not in debt to festival republic, 1k CDs sounds incredible, I love having hard copies, don't see why if you're going to pay you'd pay for a digital one!

Amazon's easy, you can just decide to spend a certain amount and search for albums until you've got a load of £3, 4, 5 ones totalling that, but it's nowhere near as good an experience as going into a CD store, spending about 40 minutes browsing and picking them out, trying to work out which you want more. In most you can usually listen to some via their CD player + headphones if you ask nicely. It's such a great experience. Tingle with excitement on the journey home as well.

I was lucky enough to have a friend who was giving away a load of old CDs when he was moving house a couple of years ago.

He gave me about 40, including the old Velvet Underground quine tapes. Fantastic stuff.

    • I am as well not a fan of these side by side stages. too many people at the same places and you have always people around you who wait for the other stage...
    • If only they could get the Bits area back (and add maximum 5k capacity) the site would feel less crowded.
    • Blame it on the side-by-side setup. There are cases where it works well - got a great location in front of the middle screen for Bexter Dury-Big Thief-Little Simz, just had to move about 20 meters each time for a great location. But on most cases it sucks
    • was happy to swerve the main stages on Saturday, but thought it was fine for The Cure, we just went down the opposite side & got a decent spot close to the front, everyone into it (admittedly a bit off to the side)   a festival that now books Olivia Rodrigo as a surprise set isn't going to get any smaller, for better or for worse it is miles apart from when I was first going   personally I still find the people amazing, never have any hassle & the line ups are always so strong & diverse.  We will definitely return for the 25th anniversary next year!
    • I love this festival but Mordor has got worse and worse to the point now that I dread going there. 10 years ago there just weren’t as many people, as many bottlenecks and there wasnt the need to arrive early to have a decent spot.
