3rd Headliner?

If FATM headline then that is very weak, plus it completely abolishes a lot of people's theory about having only one new headliner every year. I'd prefer Bloc Party to do (and I don't even like Bloc Party). If this was the case then the undercard below FATM would have to be very strong.

Maybe sommat like this:

Kasabian

Placebo

No Doubt

Florence + The Machine

Dizzee Rascal

Kaiser Chiefs

Foo Fighters

The Black Keys

Tenacious D

i personally could only see it being mumford and florence at the top of the bill if it was a joint headlining thing, with a sub headliner underneath who is just as popular. it wouldn't feel right having either of them as a stand out headliner, not for this year anyway

I'm putting my money on Bloc Party just as they seem the most likely atm. I don't think The Cure would headline R&L. I want Green Day but I don't think it will be them. I would love it if we didn't know until the annoucement but if that's the case and it's Bloc Party I will cry.

i don't get this 'up and coming' status The Black Keys have all of a sudden been given. They are pretty huge .. Headlining Coachella. Sold out UK tour .. 7 albums.

They deserve to headline much more than FATM/Bloc Party (although i think they'd be an awesome headliner.)

Whilst they are big they are aren't huge, there's also a rumour that they headlining Coachella as Sabbath were meant to headline but pulled out due out to Tony's illness before announcement and if you look at their albums most of them haven't sold nearly aswell as FATM or Bloc Party, even their new and best selling album has sold less than theirs and if you look at the venues they played it wasn't a huge arena tour.

The Sabbath rumour is probably true but they're still playing ahead of huge acts including Pulp, Arctic Monkeys and Swedish House Mafia.

Their albums haven't been sold much due to little hype that surrounded them. 'Brothers' and 'El Camino' have got them fairly into the public eye, and their back catalogue will become more popular as people get more familiar with them (ala Kings of Leon and their early albums after Because Of The Times and Only By The Night.) FATM and Bloc Party are much more chart friendly, obviously than Blues Rock.

They sold out 2 nights at Manchester Apollo which is more than one night at the MEN Arena would have been so ..

I can't see them settling for 3rd/4th down the Main Stage after their sudden burst in popularity. And it seems as if they are playing so who knows.

But I'd say they will go down a storm if they headlined .. They put on an awesome show!

    • I love this festival but Mordor has got worse and worse to the point now that I dread going there. 10 years ago there just weren’t as many people, as many bottlenecks and there wasnt the need to arrive early to have a decent spot.
    • Aren't they against touring?
    • If my memory serves me right, it was the other way round - when PS 2022 lineup was released it was already confirmed that she plays Barcelona in May.
    • Cheers! And yep looks identical to Green day's scheduling
    • Reading all the feedback with interest.  If there are now 75,000 tickets officially sold, plus who knows how many more people blagging in - then on the Friday evening and Saturday in particular, it's not ridiculous to suggest there's 50,000 people at Mordor, which is a stadium gig - except with much worse sight lines, an inferior PA, and far less bars and toilets. The Thursday evening in 2022 was of course infamous but on the Friday night for Beck I was trapped about 150m from the stage, surrounded by chatters, and with no prospect of getting nearer the stage.  With hindsight that was when I realised the fest had one way or another fundamentally changed.  Also noting on Reddit that some folk didn't enjoy the Cure or Gorillaz because the sets were "too long".  In future bands may be better received if they actually just play their top 10 Spotify songs then get back off the stage.
