If you're camped a long way from the action (or are staying off-site as we were), you kinda need to take everything you need for the whole day. That may include:

- jeans, shirt and jumper for the evening

- bogroll

- hat

- sunglasses

- suncream

- waterproofs

- umbrella

- phone

- torch

- camera

all x2 if your lazyarse other half refuses to carry anything herself! ;)

You can use the lockups for both layers for later and extra alcohol. I checked and they do not consider this to be in any way taking the piss. They just ask that you start a singalong with them to help the shift go by. However - they would prefer that alcohol & jumper depositers have something other than Wonderwall ready.

I remember years ago ( in a galaxy far far away or so it seems because I cant remember where it was) a couple stood near the front with two large hiking packs oblivious to what was happening behind. Some wag had decided to hang as much rubbish as he could from the various nets and ties....everytime he manged a new accessory the crowd cheered and the victims turned to see what was happening. This went on for about 20 mins until the pair decided to move on....or at least tried to move on as they were now tied together with an old broken chair attached to a trailing line. Watching some irate germans hurling abuse at a 10,000 plus crowd pissing themselves was better than the support act......if only video phones had been invented.

Heh, I did sort of think the same. Do remember that internet forums are like observational comedy, you don't get too many laughs out of "I saw this thing that was quite nice" in comparison to "chairs are for cnuts"

I can get how a large backpack would piss someone off, but I don't expect that there were many people in the thick of it at crowds (a place I never was this year) that were guilty.

I think that, as with all things, everything can be fine if people use their common sense, show consideration for others and don't take the piss. I would happily give that same answer for pretty much any thread complaining about this or that at a festival, really.

Didn't get a Yeo Valleys cloth bag this year :(

No choice but to lug the essential bottles of water round in a backpack.

Don't remember hitting anyone in the face with it, then again I'm usually careful..

Still, it might have happened.

But somebody having a slightly protruding object on their person is nowhere near on the level of a hoard of chairs in the middle of a crowd.

I watched it on the telly and it looked like here were way too many people in front of the stages this year. They should put some sort of check in place to stop people getting in and blocking access and the view.

This is one of the reasons I always try and camp close.

Cargo trousers/shorts do me fine to carry everything I need - 2 to 4 cans are easily accommodated (more if really needed), as well as wallet, phone, bin bag (for rain/seating) some folded toilet roll and baby wipes, print out of programme.

Just be careful of getting some 'close' dancing in to find the girl is gyrating on the large can of stella in your pocket - disappointment may ensue :P.

Backpack wearers in crowds do irkme, especially when actually on their back - mostly because they seem to get extra angry when they find they keep getting moved by people passing their impeding back pack. Though standing behind one and them not realising they are constantly swishing it past you isn't great.

    • Where did you see this?
    • No idea how it'll work in a festival setting but really enjoying Prewn at the moment.
    • Lineup announced, with the dates having been pushed back to 12th and 13th September. Tickets on sale tomorrow 8:30am.   12th September Chaka Khan Jack Savoretti Lulu Emeli Sande Texas ABC The Script   13th September Simple Minds Deacon Blue Level 42 Appleton Blue James Blunt Cast   I think it’s a pretty weak lineup compared to previous years to be honest - and think it’s quite lazy they’ve gone down the Scottish route so much (not sure Simple Minds would be classed as a headliner elsewhere in the UK).

    • I've been saying that it's been due for years. I don't recall anything but good luck, mainly, since 2016.   If we could get the bad year out of the way during the fallow year, and return to glorious sunshine next year, that would be most welcome.
