2013 Headliners

Radiohead and Bowie are hotly tipped. Arcade Fire would be a great shout. Mike wants the Rolling Stones at some point and given his age, and their age, the sooner the better (though I avoid dad rock headliners myself, legend or not, put your feet up and retire).

Just some thoughts on some other suggestions

Gaga - hell no, please don't ever do this. She's crap. Popular, but crap. Plus, if you're going to throw a curve ball headliner, perhaps mix it up a bit, we've had hip hop and pop, we don't need pop again.

Elbow - probably going to headline sometime but 2013 might be too soon for them to get a new record out and I reckon it would be tied into that. Biffy are the other I think could get themselves to headliner status.

Daft Punk - overdue but I'd suspect more Other Stage level these days, particularly with their annual big dance act on there. I think Chase & Status are the dance act coming through that might fill this spot one day, maybe not by 2013.

Bjork - was great in 2007 and perhaps keep an eye on her headline set at Bestival this year to see if she does a good enough audition.

Foo fighters - not many other current bands that size that haven't done it.

Janelle Monae might make Other Stage headliner in 2013 if she bangs out another big album, I'd certainly expect she'll get an invite back.

Arcade Fire

Radiohead

David Bowie

I can also see Florence and Mumford and Sons each doing a headline slot on The Other Stage. My main wish is for Daft Punk to listen to their fans....if they were to headline the pyramid stage I think it would go down as one of the classic Glastonbury sets

How about a woman who has played less than the 30 gigs ever, the last being in 1979 to headline?!

The woman is Kate Bush and she recently said she has not ruled out playing live again before she is too ancient. She certainly has the back catalogue and if she were too play would surely have to headline.

I'd guess this maybe the most unlikely of all the suggestions but you never know!

    • Bit of a rogue one but when Nightwish went on their hiatus a few years ago they didn't rule out doing shows for their 30th anniversary which is next year    Would be a perfect sub for someone like Deftones or even System
    • With 20 euro discount if booked via Revolut too.
    • Yeah, surprisingly no increase from this year
    • its diabolical already 😞 .... The refs should have walked out in solidarity
    • The main problem with these is that noone really predicts the shocks that happen in the early knockouts or quarters, so it inevitably gets to like what I put in the semis (France v Spain and Eng vs Arg). You always end up with 4/6 of the top sides reaching the semis, and this is with me 'predicting' Swiss to beat Portugal.   I think we will see a shock result against a top 5-6 team of an African/Asian side knocking a favourite out, and I can see one of the big guns resting heavily for a 3rd group game and ending up 2nd place in their group, which would throw these whole brackets out of whack.   I think the main interesting thing from the brackets, is that if you're only caring about 'likely' group winners, you have France/Spain/Germany/Belgium/Netherlands (who I'm not convinced top group F, that group seems v exciting to me), all on one side of the bracket. Albeit the other side is England/Brazil/Arg/Portugal, but the European giants do seem weighted towards one half.   'best 3rd place' is very hard to call, I suspect there might be 1 or 2 who get 6 points (tied with 2nd) but are there on goal difference/head to head, while others could be on 3 or even 2 points. I also don't actually know if a bunch of these middle-Eastern teams who I've predicted to finish bottom are that bad. I think the ConCaCaf lot who've qualified partially by virtue of the 3 strongest teams all being hosts probably are 0-1 point teams mostly, but I wonder if there's some near-Asian teams I'm underestimating.   I'm honestly really excited though.
