The Streets

Call me out of touch with reality but The Streets basically passed me by until earlier when I realised they have some pretty good tunes & I may well end up getting down that way on the Sunday.

BUT, I only know (well) Fit but you know it (from some FIFA days ) & Dry your eyes.

Aside from these, can folk recommend me 8-12 songs that are his finest & most likely to be played.

Thanks! :)

Original Pirate Material is great, as is A Grand don't com for free. After that, well, the new one is OK, maybe 4 really good tunes on it, the previous one had 'Everything is just borrowed' which is probably my favourite track by the Streets. It's only the third album which is really poor.

Great band, can't wait to see them. Probably the act I'm most excited about seeing this year.

here you go, a little spotify playlist of my favourite tracks

I also love "Never Went to Church"

The problem with trying to get into The Streets in a short time is that they are not really an easy listen.

I do have most of their stuff but I don't know what half the tunes I like are called!

I would also say that Original Pirate Material is the best album, but every album has one or two complete masterpieces on it.

That playlist is OK but where is "Geezers need excitement"? I also love "Empty cans" and have used both of these as a starting point for working with violent offenders!

I saw them in 2009 at Kendal Calling and they were fab, the place was rammed. As previously mentioned a grand don't come for free is probably my favourite material by the streets - I will do a setlist search for what they played at KC - might give you a vague idea of what's to come.. I'd deffo give them a look in though.

I'm currently planning on joining Mr. Skinner on the Sunday - seems only fair to give him a decent send off (by all accounts these are the last live dates he'll be doing as "The Streets"; we'll see...)

A Grand Don't Come For Free is one of my all time favourite albums. It's basically a concept album but still manages to contain some wonderful singles.

I agree that The Streets is not the easiest listening there is and, in truth, he's not always brilliant live. I still think it'll be a great way to close the festival.
