What night would the Stones be headlining then, Saturday?

whoaaaaa! That's me speculating, and I might well be adding two and two and getting five. I have no specific info about the stones, but it's a scenario that seems to fit. I could be WILDLY wrong.

But along with everything else, the way I see things, if they don't play this year they never will. And there's got to be some reason why they appear to be - unusually (it's very different to what they've been doing for years) - starting a tour in June.

Yeah I know it's only speculation, I just wasn't sure what level of confidence you had of Coldplay playing regardless, and it seems that they're as likely as Muse seemed this time last year.

from where I'm sat they're defo not as likely as Muse were at this time last year. I had what I knew to be 100% accurate info on Muse playing, and had published a story saying they were playing quite a while before xmas 2009. I've had nothing of substance about Coldplay for this year, and while there's lots of stories going around about them, there doesn't seem to be anything solid behind them - it just seems like the obvious guess, and while it might be right this year it's been wrong many times before.

Having said all of that, on a personal level I think they're probably going to play this year - but ultimately that's just a guess.

If they do play, then with all of the different possible scenarios for bands that might be headlining this year, then I can see situations where they might be playing but not headlining. But that's probably a lesser possibility.

I reckon the only thing we can assume is there's going to be more headlining sized bands than room for.

nah, I don't think that's going to be the case. It's hard enough finding suitable bands, without blowing all the options in one year leaving nothing for years to come.

It's far more likely that the headliners aren't who some (perhaps me) are assuming.

I would like to say its been brilliant these last few years having new headliners

Bruce

Neil

Stevie

Kings

Jay - Z

None of which I saw actually , was busy elsewhere !

etc etc

and hopefully with U2 and maybe The Stones we can add a few more to the list , having been to every

Glasto since 1999 , it seems a cop out to go for the likes Radiohead and Coldplay and REM again , but I do accept if they are the only ones out there you have to put bums on seats and not have The View ( who I love ) headline.

;)

I happen to know - because I've asked Emily about it - that the Stevie comment was 100% accurate at the time it was made. Stevie wasn't in the frame to play until sometime after she'd made that comment.

She was quite offended by the idea that everyone thought she'd been making misleading statements.

There's no way Pulp will he doing an early set. If they're not headlining Pyramid or Other they'll either be second to last on one of them, or at a push headlining a smaller stage. They've the John Peel connection, but I think there would be a hell of a crush on if they played there. It was bad enough in there when Jarvis headlined two years ago

    • Agree. Also there was a lot more crossing over between stages. I know they need to put the cure, the xx and Gorillaz on the main stages but if they could have put your Blood Orange, Big Thief, Baxter Dury on Cupra and Occident with Jade and Pinkpantheress on the main stages, it would have been a massive improvement.
    • 100% THIS! I haven't quite been able to put my finger on it, but I think you've just nailed why I didn't enjoy this year as much as usual. In last years edition, the likes of Slowdive or Big Thief would have had evening slots at Cupra or Occident, instead of being shoved on to the main stages during the day. Apart from the very biggest acts (ie The Cure, the pop headliners), most performances at Mordor just lack that special "wow, I'm so lucky to be here" feeling that I remember from the Jesus Lizard and Anhoni sets that you've mentioned.  Sidenote: I wonder if there's a decent chunk of ticket holders that gravitate towards Mordor simply because it's the biggest stage, without really caring who's playing at that time, thus the increased (and incredibly noticeable) yapping.
    • Some horrible talkers around me as well for that one. Plus the mobile beer taps pressing through almost all the way to the front, which really should be illegal.
    • 1. Kevin Morby - Little Wide Open  2. feeble little horse - bitknot 3. Genesis Owusu - Redstar Wu and the Worldwide Scourge    Decent month though - Kurt Vile and Ed O'Brien would have been top 3 most months
