No problem with that, just wondering. It's hard to rate bands as a foreigner :)

@Neil: Do you have any information related to Pulp playing european Festivals? I wasn't able to get Glastonbury tickets in Germany (the queue hates me), so I'm hoping for their appearance at some mainstream european festivals apart from Primavera. Any estimates?

to give you a better perspective on where the UK music scene is at with youngsters today, I read something earlier today which said that of the 100 best selling singles in the UK in 2010, just three of them were classed as 'rock', with 47 being hip-hop or R&B, and 40 being 'pop', and 10 'dance'. In comparison, in 2009, rock tracks took up 13 of the top 100.

For albums in 2010, 'rock' made up 25% - still a pretty low rate.

People don't get it do they? When some are saying that Coldplay are bigger than REM, which they currently definitely are in the UK, that does not mean they are better or more worthy etc. All it means is that at this current moment, and for the last few years, they have been more prominent than REM.

Just be happy they are going to be on the bill wherever.

    • The Radio Dept.?! That's a surprise to me, they haven't toured in like 8 years. Hopefully they will announce some more shows.
    • I was assuming September in Stirling might have a different issue tbf in the form of it just pissing it down.
    • Yeah so many of mine seem to be just France v Spain in one semi and England/Brazil v Argentina in the other. But the fact those combos are the obvious ones mean it feels unlikely that'll happen because in World Cup history, you very rarely end up with what pre-tournament looks like the obvious final 4. We all see teams outperform and underperform. Which one is the fall guy is a different matter.   I've said elsewhere that for me, there's a hierarchy of Spain, France and Argentina as the 3 strongest looking, then England and Portugal, then Brazil and Germany, but that overall, they'd be the 7 likeliest to win. So I dunno, maybe this will be the time the Netherlands avenge the failure of total football in 1974 and achieve what they couldn't achieve through whatever the f**k Nigel de Jong was with his 2010 final karate moves.
    • Oh I think Infantino should resign. His handling of the whole WC process has been an utter shitshow. But you know. That would require him having integrity or something.
    • Good Charlotte would be fine third down or subbing. If they can get a bigger sub and still get GC, they’ll play third down.
