It WILL NOT be worse than 2007 for loads of reasons.

The drainage has been sorted, only showers are forecast, you cannot trust the BBC online weather site, Pilton is it's only little micro-weather area, it is stuck between big hills which do something (will need a cleverer person that me to explain how this affects the weather), due to the rain in the lead up the site will be covered in Straw by the time everyone gets there, no thhunderstorms are forecasted, the site isn't that bad at the moment affter all of that rain, and I repeat, WE ARE ONLY FORECAST SHOWERS WHICH WON'T HURT, THEY WILL HELP AS THE HARD MUD WILL STAY A LITTLE BIT SQUISHY WHICH WILL HELP EVERYONE WALK, COUPLE THAT WITH ALL THE STRAW IT WILL BE FINE.

I am not apologising for shouting, I am irritated. :D

These two are quite optimistic:

DevonhammerNetweather Festival Forecast updated. Showers through to Saturday. Scorchio Sunday. These showers are light though. We are NOT looking at a washout.

A spokesperson for the Met Office said Wednesday and Thursday (June 23) will see a mixture of sunshine and showers

When the event gets under way officially on Friday (June 24), fans can expect sunny spells, “though it will be turning cloudy with some light rain through the evening”.

But in a revision of previous forecasts, Saturday will be “warm and humid” with the odd heavy shower

while Sunday will see the “best of the weekend weather”.

“It will be a warm and sunny

day

with temperatures up to 23 degrees,” the spokesperson said.

BBC News 24 update. There should now be no rain whatsoever until Wednesday morning at around 8am (who'd have guessed), when there could be showers through the morning. These will break up after midday and should leave it dry for the rest of the day. A couple of light showers on Thursday.

I've found my solar powered/wind up radio and the SUN is giving it a nice charge at the moment here in SW Devon, rejoice! B)

    • Even with the recent heavy showers it's too early to tell what site conditions would have been like.  The very hot spell would have certainly dried things up considerably, and rain since then has been equalled by a stiff breeze so, without the benefit of actually walking the site, I'd guess ground conditions at present are about perfect.   If we had a festival to look forward to I think the weather watchers would have been at the "all to play for" stage at present.
    • Hush cancelled with a similar event now taking place at EartH and Cate Le Bon doing her own show, maybe others have rearranged gigs?
    • Yeah I find it strange, if they were just a silly act then they wouldn't be headlining the 3rd stage. The likes of vengaboys yes but they aren't doing their own sizeable arena dates.  That looks very weak for what they could actually get, but GC aren't playing 3rd main stage with The 02 and the Coop arena and in a same slot that KSE are. MIW aren't carrying those two dates either, neither are Turnstile and Parkway Drive tickets didn't play out. You gotta do better than Ghost, Blink and Deftones though.    I think you are a bit even if that is not the intention. I'm genuinely shocked they booked them for the avalanche and I think it'll be rammed out of the tent. While ADTR will obviously get a lot too, many Download attendees will had the chance to see them at Slam Dunk. I think 90s fest getting Scooter was class and while there would have been some Download crossover, the Slam Dunk crossover given acts you get on the avalanche will be a different level.
