Don't think I've ever tried it. I reckon I will if it's cold and wet this year.

I'm slightly confused - this says that rain won't be too bad, but some of the images say otherwise. Looks to me like that low pressure will pass to the north of the SW of the UK on this forecast.

he retired recently, I suspect due to ill health.

He always used to make me laugh - he'd give weather forecasts for bad weather with a big grin on his face, and be grumpy if he was giving a good weather forecast.
