A bit mad?

Hiya

We normally arrive from the East (London), but this year we're overnighting on Tuesday at a friends just East of Glastonbury Town (under the Tor, yey!) so will be approaching from West.

We also always camp in Kidney Mead if at all possible... are we mad to think we'll get from West car parks over to KM without dropping dead? I thought it would be great avoiding the hill of death, but now I'm worried about getting around the Pyramid (planning to go Guardian lounge direction).

p.s. we're about 30 minutes from site and planning to leave 6/6.30am...

Its a long walk! Only thing in its favour is if you have trolleys then go along the old railway line and down the side of Jazz World instead of round the Pyramid to avoid the metal walkways. :)

I shouldn't think its that much of a mare. If you come along the north side of the John Peel and then cross the Pyramid field it can't be that bad? East for Kidney is definitely easier.

go to the yellow car park and pedestrian gate A, come through the gate and turn left, keep following the path through the nature reserve and keep going, you will end up at the top of kidney mead. There is just a couple of inclines at the top of the pyramid fields where the ice cream van is, otherwise it's pretty level from ped gate a - just a bit of a yomp!

Why don't you just skirt the site and park in East? Just because you're coming from the West side doesn't mean you have to use those car parks.

    • So, what would the weather have been like at this year's festival?   It's been shambolic around here, the rain is soul destroying and showing no sign of letting up, bar odd sporadic days here and there. Disgraceful for June.   What's it like down there? Have we had a lucky escape?...

    • belated thanks for this ended up going, was a good evening and a great venue with a cracking beer selection (give the festival a few tips on that). Never been in before despite reasonably local.       Main takeaways from the film (as someone who didnt go for much later). The festival has changes a lot since then apart from the Green Fields that looked the exact same.  Me and my mate both agreed that Shambala is today than Glastonbury.   Cool piece of merch aswell.
