If we're going through Leicester's not-quite-as-illustrious-as-it-should-be musical past, there's always Rabid, Blab Happy, The Bomb Party, The Originals, Perfume, Po!, and Prolapse to name a few. There's also a band (apparently) from Shepshed called Penfold Gate who seem far too good to be from Shepshed (or to have such a bad name):

Get em on the bill.

Yeah, it was - a superb night it was too, if you discount the financial loss resulting from two well out of town bands plus Sunday night attendance.

Andy tried to get a Prolapse reformation for the first Fringe, I recall him telling me, but not everyone was keen. They're starting to prove a quietly influential band - Gareth from Los Campesinos! has namechecked them.

That MGMT link is really interesting...

In a really circular sort of discussion, Alan Jenkins was also involved in very early Yeah Yeah Noh.... see this interview by Dave Dixey for details...

Leicester - so much to answer for....

I wonder if bands will be citing the influence of the Falling Leaves in years to come.

i keep meaning to buy the MGMT album, solely because it's produced by Sonic Boom. I went to see sonic in notts in december, on the third floor of a cafe bar, in nottingham market square. they sold the beer out of boxes from behind a table, and an mgmt blokey was there in the audience. best gig i went to last year by a long way.

Very unlikely, though, partly because it's in December and partly because they're not the sort of band to take a late booking from a mid-sized UK festival.

Talking of ATP curators, though, bearing in mind the specifics for this week's announcement, notice the gap in these European schedules for August? http://www.matadorrecords.com/pavement/
