Alchemy Festival
Alchemy warm up weekender will be at Scholey park, Lincolnshire. This will also be the new home for Alchemy festival, for those that know scholey park I am sure you will be as exited as I am about the move. For those that don't believe it or not its a nicer venue than the old one and more suitable for Alchemy! There are taps on site, A beautifully wooded area, Wildlife areas, Fire pit, and its away from houses which was the main problem with the other site! I do hope to put on a acoustic festival on the other site in 2011 so keep your ears open for news about that too! Directions to the new site are below. A good general map: Google map A more accurate / specific map. Multimap A satellite map: A satellite map -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Directions by Road From the North head to Lincoln, then to Horncastle on the A158. From Horncastle make your way to Coningsby on the A153. Once you get to Coningsby, continue until you reach the 30mph signs. Turn right onto Wharf Lane (watch out for the surprisingly sharp right-hand bend 200yrds after the farm!!), and continue for 3/4 mile. You will see the Alchemy weekender on your right hand side. From the South head to Sleaford then to Coningsby on the A153, then turn left towards Kirkby on Bain (and follow the signs!) You will see the Alchemy weekender on your right hand side about 1 mile out of Coningsby, on the road to Kirkby on Bain. Where? About a mile outside of Coningsby on the road to Kirkby on Bain. [if you click on the google map - you'll see its the spot with the green arrow above it]. [tip:] Print the map as it is, then zoom out a bit - make sure you can still see Coningsby - and print again. These print-outs will match up to any standard road map. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Public Transport Information -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [interconnect bus timetables:www.lincsinterconnect.com] Take a bus or a train to Lincoln. Turn right as you walk out of the train station car park, cross at the pedestrian crossing on your left. Turn right, and continue past the Italian restaurant on your left, you will then see Lincoln City Bus Station on your left, approx. 100 yards from the pedestrian crossing. - Less than 1 minute walk from the train station. From Lincoln City Bus Station to Tattershall Thorpe - Route 5 - Costs around £3.60 Single Get off at Tattershall Thorpe, just past the pub: it's called The Blue Bell - a small thatched pub on your right hand side. Keep walking in the same direction as the bus, the road goes round some S bends. Take the next left (on the bend by the woods), continue to the T-junction (400m), turn left and continue for 1/4 mile. You will see the the Gathering on the right hand side. This is quite a long walk if you're carrying a lot of stuff: like tents. It takes about 20mins to 1/2 an hour: but it's flat - no hills to struggle up - and its quite a nice walk. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Alternatively... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- From Lincoln to Horncastle - Route 6 Timetable: www.lincsinterconnect.com/timetables/interconnect6.pdf (Main Lincoln to Skegness Interconnect Service). - Currently costs around £3.60 single and then From Horncastle to Tattershall Thorpe - Route 6K This is small 12 seater mini-bus. Tell the driver, you want to get off on Kirkby Lane - between Kirkby on Bain and Tattershall. - Costs about £2.00 single Edited March 13, 2010 by Alchemy Festival

Alchemy Festival
Poeticat Catherine Martindale has performed spoken word poetry for 4 years, receiving high acclaim for her honest, thought-provoking, and comic take on urban life in West London. This success is underpinned by a 5-star rating at the 2007 Edinburgh Festival which led to a growing and dedicated fan-base. Catherine was well received as a solo performer at Camp Bestival and Latitude. One year she started playing with guitarist Blake Kenrick and they found something quite nice. Then Isabel and Victor Meadowcroft popped up and added vocals and cajon and PoetiCat was born. With PoetiCat, Catherine's urban tales are captivatingly re-worked and underscored by a rich acoustic sound. This fusion - nick-named 'Folk n' Word' - brings together an original combination of spoken word, experimental vocals (inspired by Portuguese Fado), funky folk-blues guitar with a Latin twist, and the earthy pulse of the cajon (Peruvian drum). This year, PoetiCat was enthusiastically received at E4 Udderbelly (SouthBank Centre) and performed to a full-house at the Tavistock room at the OneTaste Festival (The Bedford). Most recently, PoetiCat surprised and delighted the crowd with its refreshingly different act at The Bull & Gate (Kentish Town). PoetiCat's unique sound/word fusion appeals to both poetry and music crowds and suits a range of environments. PoetiCats demo is launched on the 31st of May 2010 at The Windmill, Brixton. Alchemy Festival
If your coming to the weekender please either buy tickets for the Sept Alchemy and these will get you into the weekender or buy weekender tickets and either buy Sept Alchemy tickets at the event or wait until after the event to buy the Sept tickets and reclaim your weekender ticket money. Please do not buy both the weekender and Sept tickets now and then ask for a refund on your weekender tickets as this may not be possible. If you have already done this please email and I will sort out. Hope this makes sence!? Edited April 29, 2010 by Alchemy Festival

Alchemy Festival
Again at Alchemy in Sept and were the stars of the crew party! New groove formation The band formed in early 2004 when four local musicians got together and starting jamming in sleepy Bedfordshire. Having a mutual respect and desire to play the same sort of music the band quickly started writing material. Shortly afterwards Didge and MC Dutter were enrolled as percussion and rapper respectively. A few more months on a few more tunes and a horn section was introduced, the band was complete. Playing music they all love from, dirty funky beats, grooves and breaks to reggae, dub and ska. Every member has brought something different to the band which comes together to give and electrifying performance. The band has a great time together on and off stage and this comes across in the performance. The line up has changed a little over the years, with a new bass player and a number of changes in the horn section! The band has gone from strength to strength and a large repertoire has been created. Our aim is simply to get the crowd dancing!

Alchemy Festival
Diamond el Fonsbrook and the Dead Baby Parade Formed in summer of 2008, when the jolly brewer beer garden convinced us of the need for psychedelic folk. After months of jamming we became 'Diamond el Fonsbrook and the Dead Baby Parade'. Shortly after, in our raftered home, we recorded a 4 track E.P 'Open Fires' produced by Ben Jordan. Diamond el Fonsbrook and the DBP was created using the encouragement and beauty of friends and places, but with pith'n'vinegar of the past urging us to be happy. The right sound was created. With the amount of weird and wonderful woodwind instruments given to us, we were able to push foward with an open vibe enticing lovers of music, not genres.
