Sometimes I cant believe people who post on here how the hell can Download disappoint again etc after NINE bands have been announced??? Its also ironic that after years of everyone wanting Download to get their finger out and book AC/DC some thnk its no big deal. The first set of bands are fairly diverse in style and age so I would be amazed if anyone was a big fan of every single band there.

Anyway rant over I'm pretty happy so far. AC/DC are the biggest hard rock band in the world and havent plyed a UK festival for nearly 20 years. Oh and they are awesome live. THem Crooked Vultures have never played a Uk fest before and have some huge names in the lineup. Stone Temple Pilots have just reformed and a lot of people going to Download will never have seen them before. Motorhead and Megadeth are both legendary names in metal and the rest of the line up are popular 'younger' bands. Pretty much something for everyone there.

I think the only "disappointed" people are those who had already decided to go to Sonisphere or R/L and are claiming to be disappointed to justify that decision. Any real fan of rock music should be delighted with this initial announcement. The only just cause for disappointment is that more bands weren't announced!

Yeah, thats about right - they didn't really announce much that wasn't known already. I was hoping the 3 headliners would be in the 9 bands, not just the one everyone knew, and had made their mind up on already.

Does anyone have any idea when the next wave of bands are likely to be announced? One weeks time? Two weeks? A month?

    • Cool, if potentially completely exhausting, idea.
    • We don't have any choice but I don't need a t-shirt for it! 🙂    On the bright side, it gets it out of the way for a nice 5 year run... notwithstanding wars, new contagious diseases and apocalypse.
