The Killers splitting up?!

Ah The Killers. They could have been great. Hot Fuss showed loads of promise, and I really enjoyed that. They were ace at Glastonbury 2005 and I considered myself a fan, but then they released the cancer on the music industry that is Sam's Town. I cannot think of a worse follow up album, complete and total tosh.

I remember writing a review of that when it came out, and was amazed at how many different synonyms for faeces I managed to cram into it.

It's an insult to anyone with ears. It's an insult to any household pets who may have been subjected to it - the RSPCA (who for this occasion I will rename Really - Stop Playing this Crap, Asshole) had a field day on release day. I can't even use my usual put down of 'maybe whoever bought it needed some extra placemats' because even an old, unloved piece of pottery should be offended by Sam's Town.

I would love to know what drugs Brandon and co were on when they wrote and recorded Sam's Town, because whatever it was, they should educate kids using The Killers as an example of what CAN go wrong when you take drugs.

But the third album is WORSE, you say?! How, exactly?

Sams town, I was a bit like everyone else and really disliked until last year. I really got into when I saw them T and perform a few of the tracks I disliked on it, admittedly nothing they have done has really been as great as Hot Fuss, but then loads of bands don't really live up to there first album.

Hot Fuss is undoubtedly their best album, but their other 2 albums are fantastic also.

I don't get where the hate for Sam's Town comes from, it's just different.

    • Yeah.   Revisit in 2 weeks, then 👀
    • Even with the recent heavy showers it's too early to tell what site conditions would have been like.  The very hot spell would have certainly dried things up considerably, and rain since then has been equalled by a stiff breeze so, without the benefit of actually walking the site, I'd guess ground conditions at present are about perfect.   If we had a festival to look forward to I think the weather watchers would have been at the "all to play for" stage at present.
    • Hush cancelled with a similar event now taking place at EartH and Cate Le Bon doing her own show, maybe others have rearranged gigs?
    • Yeah I find it strange, if they were just a silly act then they wouldn't be headlining the 3rd stage. The likes of vengaboys yes but they aren't doing their own sizeable arena dates.  That looks very weak for what they could actually get, but GC aren't playing 3rd main stage with The 02 and the Coop arena and in a same slot that KSE are. MIW aren't carrying those two dates either, neither are Turnstile and Parkway Drive tickets didn't play out. You gotta do better than Ghost, Blink and Deftones though.    I think you are a bit even if that is not the intention. I'm genuinely shocked they booked them for the avalanche and I think it'll be rammed out of the tent. While ADTR will obviously get a lot too, many Download attendees will had the chance to see them at Slam Dunk. I think 90s fest getting Scooter was class and while there would have been some Download crossover, the Slam Dunk crossover given acts you get on the avalanche will be a different level.
