So back to the original point... Are we thinking this makes them more or less likely for Glasto? Or Reading maybe?? :P

about the only way to guess I reckon is via what other acts have done when they've played Wembley in September - and in all other cases that eFestivals has listed they've not done any festival dates the same summer. So I'd say that festival shows anywhere in the UK are probably unlikely.

They have stated they wanted to do a few festivals, so I think that at least one or two festivals would get them. Maybe glasto and t, since their june/july rather than close to the stadium gigs.

While they might want to also do a few festivals, it'll be the case that the promoter of these shows won't want them to if they can possibly help it - anyone who sees them at a festival is less likely to shell out for these shows.

As things stand at the moment, I'm thinking festies are unlikely. I reckon a T on the Fringe show (or whatever it's called now. The Edge, is it?) is more likely in Scotland than T in the Park, just on the basis that the date would be close to these other shows, leaving them free to do more joined-up touring elsewhere thru the summer.

I dont think that really matters to be honest, festival line ups won't be announced until spring next year at the earliest and those Muse tickets will sell out within a few hours on the friday if their past gigs are anything to go by. Im not saying i think they will do UK festivals but i dont think thats a reason for them not to.

I'm not at all sure they'll sell out that quickly, next September is an awfully long time away.

Taking Coldplay as an example (who surely have a similar-ish 'sell-out appeal'?), they announced similar shows for September at this point last year, and they sold fairly slowly when first on sale, with just a trickle of sales thru the following months, and then a rise in sales as the dates got nearer.

Having said that tho, I guess Muse right now have a stronger appeal than Coldplay a year ago. But the promoter wouldn't have too much to go on to gauge how it might sell, and Coldplay is probably the best comparison they could use.

Am I right in thinking their whole uk tour has sold the same amount of tickets as these to stadium dates will?

Do bear in mind tho that the current tour will have been easier for people to get to, cheaper, and (in the eyes of many) a better experience than they'll get at a stadium where their viewing will be far more remote.

...and to support Neil's Coldplay comparison, they too sold out arena dates prior to their stadium dates with equal demand last year, but still struggle to fill the stadium shows until closer to the events...plus, I wasn't exactly blown away by their performance in Dublin last week...a little too planned and not alot of spontaneity...if they missed their cues they'd have fallen off the platforms. Still enjoyable, but nothing like when I first saw them live....so demand may wane as more people are underwhelmed by the current tour.

Yeah its a good point and i hope your right too, easier to get tickets! It's certainly getting silly now how long before the gig these tickets are going on sale, this one is almost a year away, i thought the Green Day one was bad enough.

On the one hand I would say that cos Muse are touring in 2010 , it would make sense for them to

play some festivals.

But then they may decide to do their own thing this year and wrap up The Resistance tour next

summer.

Having seen Muse the other week in Sheffield , and what they plan to do at their own summer shows I

am not sure if their full stage set could be rigged up for Glastonbury or Leeds, not sure if they have

the time or space to do it.

I did think what if one of the risers breaks down it would be a real Spinal Tap monment !

:P

Indeed! It was amazing at the o2 last night, felt like I was going to asphyxiate at times :P:P The set was pretty amazing, and as for the staging it was done as much it had to but no where near what the bad reviews are saying. Crowd was a bit mixed at times as london gigs are but wow muse were literally on fire.

The columns ain't actually that tall, and their got to adapt it for Wembley anyway so I don't really see how it really rules them out.

Hopefully they will play glasto and I will get tickets for Wembley to :P

    • Reading seems to have sold really well this year from the posts they've made re. tickets. I don't think it's going anywhere anytime soon, I think for the vast majority in here (myself included) it just doesn't cater to us. That said, if I was still under the age of 18 I'd be thrilled with the Reading lineup this year (not so much Leeds).
