Weather for Beautiful Days

The weather forecast is looking a bit iffy at the moment. According to Metcheck we'll be getting almost 200 kilometres of rain over the weekend and wind speeds approaching 400 mph.

Wellies and guy ropes not optional :P

Although with temperatures exceeding 500 degrees C it shouldn't be too cold at night.

  • 2 weeks later...

Well....so far this August has been furkin lush and yet the idiots at the Beeb/Met Office said this month was supposed to be super wet yes? I have spent a lot of v nice days enjoying the sun so far.

What is the site like if wettenings do ensue?

Here's yer links folks. Prospects on a bit of a knife-edge so far ... possible at this stage that we'll escape an out and out washout though.

Metcheck for South West (later part of general forecast is for the whople of the UK, but that will get more SW specific the nearer to the time we get).

Metcheck for Exeter (this is a more useful forecast than the 'festival specific' one from Metcheck for 'Beautiful Days', linked to above, because with the Exeter one you get more detail, including for preceding days)

BBC general forecast (BEAR IN MIND though that the general monthly-forecast information for the next 4 weeks dates from the Monday just gone (10th) and will not be updated til next Monday, the 17th).

BBC 4-dayer for Exeter (will become more useful next week!)

Keep checking these links for updates, I have cautious hopes right now that prospects will improve a bit over coming days. Because there's currently some talk on the technical weather discussion forums (Model Output Discussion thread) at netweather.tv, that we may see improvements, with High Pressure playing a bit more of a role in the South of England.

But as you all know, anything can happen -- still too early to say yet ..... we're guarenteed nothing at this stage, either washout or scorcher.

I'll be more confident after the coming weekend. Back later!

Having had a quick look here and there, and a bit of messing about, I predict;

A number 7 on the Whetherweatherometer.

Mostly dry, not muddy, but a pretty miserable looking sky for the duration of the festival.

Temperatures by no means stellar, may scrape a 20'C if we're really lucky, but certainly not woolly jumper weather during the day.

Bizarre and unpredictable wind.

Might get a large slice of wet on the Sunday night or Monday morning. Great for packing up in.

So, our clothing summary says;

Need for waterproofs negligible.

Short or long sleeves during the day, nothing too heavy.

No point in a hat, it'll probably only get blown off.

Recommend yellow shaded sunglasses to make it look a bit nicer.

There you go.

Compare this against the crappy BBC forecast, and we'll see who comes out on top.... :P
