Kidney Mead spaces

Kidney Mead does fill up quickly and people will squeeze their tents into the smallest of places. We had someone put their tent up on our fire in 2007 in the middle of the night. Fortunately the rain had put it out first....

We're camping elsewhere this year!

I've camped in the Kidney Mead/Big Ground area the last 3 years.

2005 - got there 1pm or so and got a space no problems

2007 - some mates got there early around 9am and saved us a spot next to the Jamacian Cafe at the edge of Big Ground.

2008 - same friends got there early again and struggled to save us space when we got there at 2pm....just about got 3/4 tents in...couple more of tents of ours had to be pitched a little further away.

This year, said friends are camping at the Park and we are going for Kidney Mead again. Planning to get there at around 10.30am so hopefully there will be space for 14 tents!! :\

I honestly think you'll be lucky indeed to find space for that many tents in one spot. We struglled last year with a similar number getting in at 830 as a lot of people who work there are already camped. Going elsewhere this year. Seems to attract a fair few tossers too,

Hold your horses though...

2007...Camp Funk...110 Efest people all got camped together, very nicely indeed...ok partly thanks to my very cheeky way of telling non efesters to kindly bugger off and a wee bit of tarp placing in places but NO corderning off! Even kept ourselves lodger free in our large communal space!

BUT...on visiting it last year after defecting to the Triangle...it was SOOOOO squashy in KM...not nice at all.

We have always camped in Kidney Mead, apart from 2002 when we defected to Penards for the year and last year, got to KM at about 2pm and there was nowhere we we could fit 4 tents in together. We ended up in the family camping the other side of Muddy Lane (very nice it was too) the only problem was that Muddy Lane was closed to pedestrians so the hike to the camp was just a little too much.

We had quite a few of the 'someone zipping open open your tent to see if you're there and if you're not they'll rob you' occasions at Kidney Mead last year as well...... another reason why I want don't want to camp there again. Not that anywhere else may be better....

We have managed to be in KM the last 2 years, last year we got there about 1130 and got a big enough space to put up the 4 tents we were carrying, plus a gazebo. In fact we could have put up 8 to be honest. 3 of the tents were half under the gazebo, so only a small communal space, but as the tents were small it gave us somewhere to stand up in and get dressed!!

Working this year, so will be there Tuesday so hoping to be far enough up to see the Pyramid
