Mcgregor is getting nowhere near Dos Anjos, well he shouldn't since he lost to Diaz who isn't even a top 5 fighter.

McGregor needs to prove he is a great fighter by defending his title first, defeating Edgar would do more for his career than beating Nate Diaz IMO. Edgar has never been finished. What happens if McGregor does beat Diaz? there would have to be a rubber match surely? which means the FW title won't be defended until 2017. Knowing the UFC though, Diaz wouldn't get a rematch and the first fight would be largely forgotten about since McGregor did gas and had to move up two divisions. What will the excuse be from McGregor fans when he loses the second time?

If this is going to be the main event of UFC 200 then I hope we get a Robbie Lawler fight on the card. Condit rematch would be ace.

What does "vanity fight" mean?

a bit like a "vanity project", it serves no real purpose other than appealing to mcg's ego. the 1st fight meant nothing until he got choked out, now its all of a sudden important?

Agreed. I had respect for Conor when he said he stepped up and didn't work out but he'd go back and defend his title. This is just bullshit and serves no purpose at all.

You're now talking about what,October before he defends the title? Bullshit. And you've got to think if he wins he might want to fight Dos Anjos or someone around that weight, why bother doing the hard thing and losing the weight/muscle to go back down and then come back up?

The reason McGregor is ducking Edgar facing Diaz is because, as I've said on here a hundred times, Edgar takes Conor down with ease, and ground fucks him for five round for a 50-45 decision and with Diaz... well, he thinks he's got a chance.

Combat sports has weight classes for a reason, McGregor and his bangwagon jumping fans seem to have either forgotten this or never bothered to find that out. Jon Jones (!) was saying this week he's been having McGregor fans telling him he couldn't beat McGregor!

Someone really needs to sit Conor down with a copy of UFC 94 and show him what happened to a prime BJ Penn when he faced off against GSP. Now OK, that's GSP, but even so. And after that, BJ Penn destroyed Florian and beat the shit out of Diego Sanchez. Conor really need to learn because, in all seriousness, if he's insistent on facing guys bigger than him, he's going to end up getting really seriously injured.

Spot on, it would be like the clinic he put on against Cub Swanson.

Mendes was supposed to beat McGregor easily too wasnt he? On the floor. Not that simple.

No issue with a fighter trying to avenge a defeat. Should be a good fight. Think Diaz will win again though. Maybe even easier this time. McGregor doesnt live up to the hype in reality. Doesnt even come close.

Agreed but why now? Just leaves the FW division waiting. Bull if this fight headlines 200 imo.

Mendes had a two week training camp.

And plus, he's nowhere near the quality the fighter of Frankie Edgar.

Agree yeah. McGregor tore his ACL a few months before the Mendes fight though. We'll see McGregor vs Edgar eventually. Later this year hopefully.

Few good KOs last night.
