it's certainly not a stupid question at all, but rather we're babbling on without explaining things.

fringe tickets are £4 this year. you will need to swap the ticket for a wristband. you'll need the wristband to get into the venues. we recommend changing to a wristband at DMH, because once the venues run out, they run out for good.

Tickets :

tickets will go on sale soon. they will be on sale from :

DMH box office (including internet purchase).

firebug bar, leicester

orange tree bar, leicester (once we ask them).

orange tree bar, loughborough (once we ask them)

Musician, leicester

Rockaboom records, St Martins square, leicester.

we'd especially recommend you purchase your ticket from rockaboom records. if only because remarkably, leicester has seemed to hold on to its one true great record shop longer then anyone else, and thus we encourage you all to shop there.

tickets will then be exchanged for wristbands on the night. wristbands will be available from DMH, and on the door at all the venues.

Camp Site Ticket Sales :

there will also be two glamorous young ladies (kate and jeni) who will tour the campsites selling fringe tickets.

Prices

this years tickets will be £4 each. we're sorry it's a £1 increase. but theres twice as many parties, and twice as many buses, and less sponsors then anticipated. so we need to pay the various bills somehow (although i'll happily talk sponsorship deals with anyone. I've got lots and lots of advertising space to sell on our fliers and posters).

we'd like to keep the donkey headliner a closely guarded secret. invariably it will slip out somewhere. (i've changed the pineapster thread because we thought that was hidden away for sean, steve and i wo work with). we're not going to announce it until the night. we hope no-one else will on here (please dont) .

simply, because we're keeping it as a surprise for festival goers, rather than locals. it'll be announced only to the campsites on the thursday night.

theres now a full fringe festival line up on the fringe site.

we really do hope you all like it. it's taken us over 6 months to sort this event out, and we do it all for free. i used to do it on my own, and this year it's taken 4 people 6 months to sort.

please note, anyone bringing a SLR camera to this years fringe thursday, will require a photo pass.

if anyone is after press or photo passes then simply email us on sswfringefestival@gmail.com and we'll email you a form.

After many late night negotiations that included pints of Burton Bridge and a midday contract signing session in Well-Next-the-Sea, Norfolk, I've got Peter on the NRI bill. Everything is played live...even on his myspace page, just him, his guitar, a loop pedal, some passing starlings and a child's xylophone.

The Donkey & the NRI are next to each other so there is a possabilty of doing a mini festival finge mini bill staggering type thing with NRI bands starting after the Donkey bands.

fringe thursday : thursday 13th august 2009

they said these nice things :

`check out the fringe parties, like spoken word and comedy, just like in edinburgh, but er, in leicester` : vice magazine

`This was all made easy to get to by open topped tour buses running continuously around the venues, and all for a grand total of two quid – genius!` : efestivals.

`you'd think this festival has outgrown it's site, you'd be right, they've got warm up parties across the city the night before, with open top buses to take you from party to party, it's a brilliant idea` : guardian / big chill summer living festivals guide 2009.

`recommended night of the week`, mixmag : august 2008.
