For the next Headway event we are delighted to introduce 2 of the UKs best young DJ / producers to emerge on the scene in recent years, residents at one of the UKs longest running club nights: the legendery BacktoBasics from Leeds. We hope to see you all there as we kick off 2009 in style!

Burnski

Burnski is an artist with an undeniable natural talent and drive. A comparable youth on the circuit, he has achieved more than some that have been around for twice as long. Aged 20, he was the youngest person to play at the legendary Leeds institution BacktoBasics in the 16 year history of the club. On the basis of this and an immediate rapport with the club faithful, he was subsequently asked to become resident and keeps it in the heart of UK club land to this day.

Emerging from a seaside town renowned for not much more than smog & fish shops, Burnski preferred to spend his time locked away in his studio experimenting with sounds. Born in 1986, he began producing as a teenager and has stacked up a string of renowned releases on Dessous, Trapez, 2020 Vision, Morris Audio, Infant, Exquisite Music and remixing the seminal X-Press 2 release 'Smoke Machine on Skint Records.

A trained pianist and with a keen interest in all forms of composition, Burnski has found his own musical niche and interpretation on the electronic music scene. He represents a wide variation of sounds across the spectrum from jazz, trip hop, disco, electro, dub, house, minimal and techno. Trained from the versatility of his residency slots he adjusts his sound for the night in question, always armed with a bag of fresh music, healthy for any hour. His style is now familiar to some of some of the best clubs in Europe including Fabric, Watergate, The Key, The End, TDK festival and Sankeys and his own productions are currently providing a benchmark of quality for the new breed of producers today.

In October Burnski released the Schizophrenia EP on Morris/Audio. This is his third release on the Swiss label, after two very successful releases with them. Following that came a third release on a label from him, this time coming on Infant Records in November. A deep techno EP which is creating a lot of hype at the moment. Burnski has become an accomplished artist by his early twenties, and with alot more quality music in the works, the future holds untold possibilities.

James Barnsley

James Barnsley is the newest member of the basics family after building the main room with his own two hands, he now finds himself playing regular main room sets as well as his long standing back room gigs in England’s best small club! Keeping his style fresh and interesting with Deep, Techy house music, there is never a lack of energy on the dance floor. James’ skills have seen him play high profile gigs such as, ‘River Bar’ for ‘Club Class’ in London and ‘Space’ in Ibiza for ‘We Love’ playing along side. 2007 has seen James venture into the studio with his most recent productions ‘Acid Tambarine’ , and 'Sock it to moi' are now signed to local Leeds label Breakout Audio and have been tearing the roof off at clubs accross the country due to be released on 12" later this year. As well as his main room gigs James has made quite a stir in the backroom gaining support from Mark Farina for his clever blend of Hip Hop, Disco and Funk. James’ latest project ‘Whalebow’ is the new basics after hours @ the mint club. As well as running the night he is also one of the residents and can be found smashing it in most Sunday mornings also securing two new residancy's for 2008, one being 'Twaddle' in Leeds and the other being 'Riff Raff' (the hottest underground club night in middlesboro, yes there is a scene in Middlesboro and it rocks). 2009 however is set to be the biggest year yet in James's DJing Courier.
