Use this thread to state where you favourite place is to camp and what is good about the place you camp. Talk about why you like the location, where it is in comparison to stages and the atmosphere etc.

There wasn't enough poll options so I had to cram the last few into the final option. I'll start us off..

Kidney Mead

Where is it: KM has a fairly central position and is based by where the leftField stage used to be. Some of it is flat and some of it is on a steepish hill. The Pyramid Stage can be heard vaguely from here although the further in, obviously, the clearer it can be heard. It is within 5 minutes walk from Acoustic Stage, Comedy and Cabaret areas. It is also a short walking distance to the Pyramid Stage which neighbours most of this campsite. I find it is great for Glastonbury Virgins who do not know the site too well purely because of the easy access to pretty much every stage although you may be looking at a lengthy walk to The Park or to the Dance Village. However, it is completely worth it. The closest car parks are the East Car Parks which can be accessed via the Blue Route. Entrance gate B or C is your best bet if you want a space in KM.

When will it be full by?: Many people seem to think it is full by Thursday Evening but going by last year I would advise you to arrive by midday Thursday to secure a space.

Atmosphere?: Very friendly, it seemed there was a mix of veterans and glasto noobs creating a diverse crowd. A nice touch for me last year was being offered hot drinks by these hippy types camping in the staff area by us. We were very close to some toilets (only a few) which didnt bother us at all.

Kidney Mead for our group too.

Agree with everything above. Would add that there is also the Jamaican Tent which is good for a dance later on and does great cocktails and lentil soup :P

The point about it being very friendly is a good one. Always had decent folk camped beside us or not far away. In 2007 there were so many cool people in that area :P

I also like the long walk to the Park or Stone Circle as it means you need to cross the whole site to get to them, lovely when you are returning at 4/5am to your tent. :D

Downside is that if you are suffering the hangover from hell during the day and can't move from your tent it may be compounded by some utter shite band playing on the Pyramid!

dragon... just a short stagger back to your tent from trash city, shangri la or the stone circle after a nights partying and handy for the green fields if you're after a nice veggie breakfast/lunch and not too far from the park either. bit of a hike from the main stages, jp and dance village tho, other drawbacks include the noise from trash city if you fancy an early night (why would you want to do that tho???), its a bit slopey in places too and it fills up fairly fast so if you have a big tent you wont find a space by wednesday evening, the only toilets there are longdrops so camp a sensible distance from them unless you like the smell of shit and the noise of metal doors banging. camped there three times so far (cant remember where i camped the other years???) and i'll be back there again this year

  • 1 month later...

Williams, not as popular as Dragons and have managed to get next to the fence the last 2 years so had somewhere to hang my solar shower! (In queue for 8am on Wednesday)

Also great views, its near Greeenfields and Stone Circle and we've always found a friendly bunch of neighbours. Gets full pretty quick though and latecomers squeze tents in to the smallest gaps or try to pinch your fire space which happened to our camp last year. They did not succeed!!

    • I am as well not a fan of these side by side stages. too many people at the same places and you have always people around you who wait for the other stage...
    • If only they could get the Bits area back (and add maximum 5k capacity) the site would feel less crowded.
    • Blame it on the side-by-side setup. There are cases where it works well - got a great location in front of the middle screen for Bexter Dury-Big Thief-Little Simz, just had to move about 20 meters each time for a great location. But on most cases it sucks
    • was happy to swerve the main stages on Saturday, but thought it was fine for The Cure, we just went down the opposite side & got a decent spot close to the front, everyone into it (admittedly a bit off to the side)   a festival that now books Olivia Rodrigo as a surprise set isn't going to get any smaller, for better or for worse it is miles apart from when I was first going   personally I still find the people amazing, never have any hassle & the line ups are always so strong & diverse.  We will definitely return for the 25th anniversary next year!
    • I love this festival but Mordor has got worse and worse to the point now that I dread going there. 10 years ago there just weren’t as many people, as many bottlenecks and there wasnt the need to arrive early to have a decent spot.
