I don't usually do fancy dress but I'm feeling under some pressure to at least make a false beard and enter into the spirit of the thing...I wonder if you can still buy that flouresent fake fur stuff that orville was made out of ???

HAWKWIND will HEADLINE the opening day of Bearded Theory to kick the festival off in style. A huge thanks to the band for the fantastic support shown to our little event and making it possible for us to attract such a brilliant name to the festival.

I'm gonna bring some fluorescent furs with me and some elastic and things to make beards with in case anyone forgets - I'll be at the glowing stall. Really looking forward to this one!

FESTIVAL BUS TIMETABLE

The Bus will leave from the Lion Hotel in Belper directly to the festival site. The Lion Hotel is literally a minutes walk from Belper Train Station. If you walk away from the Somerfields supermarket to the bottom of the car park the Lion Hotel is on the right hand side. The bus stop will be sign posted BEARDED THEORY FESTIVAL. The bus will take around half an hour to get to and from the festival site. We would appreciate it if you would advise us of you intend to use this service. Please email info@beardedtheory.co.uk

TO THE FESTIVALThe bus will cost £3 one way and will be leaving on the hour from 9am until 2pm on Friday 15th May 2009.

A letter from Angel Gardens

Dear Beardies

Angel Gardens are thrilled to be joining Bearded Theory this year!

we promise we will be friend for a very long time to come.

Us Angels bring our lovely magical gardens to many festivals and events. Haven't met us before? that's ok, you will be made so very welcome and once you become an Angel you'll always be an Angel!! All old Angels.... well we can't wait to see you!!!

We can be easily found by looking for the majestic bell tents and the big and beautiful willow sculptures.

As you enter the gardens under the willow arch and down the candle lit path, you will find a whole array of groovy things to play with and discover. Lots of arts and crafts, puppet shows, Drama, music, face painting and dressing up as well of a camp fire space that you can enjoy at will.

Come and... paint a pot while you sit in our yurt drinking tea, come and find your wings at the fairy Ball on Saturday night, bring a blankie and have a bedtime story by the fire, make a willow lantern for your camp, make a pirate hat, buy a dressing up costume and we'll do your make up for free, become a fairy, pirate, lion, tigger or get a new painted beard, get muddy and build a mud sculpture, make flowers, wands, crowns and all sorts of lovely things, find a friendly troll, get married for the weekend or just sit around the fire and enjoy the vibe....

It all goes on here in Angel Gardens, we always have very special guests who come and say hello, play a little song or tell us a story, so if you think everything ends when the main stage finishes for the night, you need to think again, we watch the sun come up together!

We have two gardens, the camp fire Garden and the peace garden. the camp fire garden is a space in which we can sit, enjoy and get involved. The peace garden is always lovely and quiet ready for any of you lovely folk who want a few minuets of calm. In the evening the gardens are all lit up with lanterns and sculptures and we have fire breathers and poi showing off all night long.

If you want to show someone you love them, then you need an Angel Gardens Wedding! anyone can get married here, mummies and daddies get married to their children, couple reaffirm their vows, strangers join their love here, best mates and groups of pals all marry in Angel Gardens. We have trolls to ensure you have someone to give you away, fairy dust confetti and even wedding fairy wings and halos if you want to accessorise. Please note though, marriage should be taken very seriously this wedding lasts the whole festival and should not be taken lightly! We can offer, lovely, romantic, silly and cute services in both the camp fire garden and the peace garden. ( the peace garden at dusk with the candles is so lovely) if you want to get married, you can just come along or to book in advance ( or have something special you want to do) please e.mail us on info@angelbrookdesigns.com

So, Dust off your wings, groom your beards and glitter your wellies...we'll see you on Friday the 15th of May... we'll come and get you as we travel the site picking you up to take you for the opening ceremony... (kids... come and see us while grown ups put up the tents... help us make things for the opening parade..)

Oh and we run on donations only, so don't think you'll need tons of Angel dollars... just love x

A message from the Majical Youth (Childrens Village)

We are so pleased to be invited to contribute to Bearded Theory! A new adventure for Majical Youth. The Majical Youth kids area will open at 10am close at 5 pm(ish), activities will be advertised on blackboards!

Well we hope you like what we have to offer, come and join us in the Kids Area for a host of hands-on craft workshops led by the Pir-art-y Kids Collective; raku pottery with the Raku Rat; circus skills with an evening fire show (performed of course by the children) led by "Organised Kaos"; and the infamous Majical Youth "Play in a Day" drama workshops and talent shows, with the fabulous child led" Agro Orchestra", accompanied by the blah de blah band! We will be playing co-operative games, mad cap football and trombones!

The climbing frame will be a sea of healthy activity and when the smalls become tired why not head for some stories in the teepee, by the fire, what ever next they cried... well.....for older children the "Safe Collective" will be hosting a series of DJ workshops, debates, song writing and MC workshops! Try your hand at graffiti, drink healthy smoothies from the juice bar, design a backdrop or simply ignore all the workshops and complain bitterly about how boring "it" is......see if we care...we are gonna have sooooo much fun WHAT EVER.......and when the kids have exhausted all the free activities, why not check out the fair! its got swingboats, chair o planes, trampolines, a climbing wall, a proper little train and crazy crazybikes to ride! wow....I'm exhausted just thinking about it....well ,we will look forward to you all arriving, see you there, don't be square....

APRIL 2009 NEWSLETTER --- Come on without and come on within

Happy April everyone!!!!

We are a few miles away from the biggest beard bonanza that the world has ever seen. The beards are itching and the anticipation of finally shaving off that bearded muff is drawing ever closer. Oh yes we are busy dithering around putting the final touches to “the village fete that’s gone wrong” which is Bearded Theory.

Soon there will be fun and frolics in a small field in Derbyshire with some ear bending music lobbed in for good measure.

We have a few crappy and a few happy announcements.

First the crappy ones, Bearded Theory has been unable to secure any showers and Sauna for the festival (as previously advertised), so I am afraid your all going to have smell of beer and sweat for 3 days.

The happy ones are that we have loads of exciting news about the Children’s Village and the new fantastic Angel Gardens.

By Car

You can use a postcode of DE6 3EL, to get to the general area, but you should follow the RAC signs once you see them, to ensure you enter the site by the correct gate.

Bradley nook farm is located just off the A517, between Ashbourne and Belper. Exit the A517 at Hulland Ward. Please follow RAC signs for the Blue Route to get to the festival site. Don't follow your sat nav - follow the RAC signs! Your parking ticket will help us to guide you on to the site. There is ample parking on site, please try and car share to avoid traffic and congestion.

Festival Bus

I think everyone was hugely shocked with the announcement of HAWKWIND who will headline the Friday night and will be joining the SAW DOCTORS and NEVILLE STAPLE. The full line up is on our website www.beardedtheory.co.uk and someone please tell the 3 Daft Monkeys not to go to the Grist Mill, whatever that is!!

The likes of SUNFISH, DREADZONE and ZETAN SPORE headline the Magical Sounds dance space.
