    Unpaid work

  2. Hi all, I was just wondering how competitive volunteering positions are at the festival? I'm specifically talking about volunteering places with Oxfam, although it would also be nice to know what it's like in general. Is it a matter of first come, first served with registering interest for positions? Just to note, I've never volunteered with Oxfam before (in or out of the festival). If I don't buy tickets and attend, I'll be interested in volunteering for 2020 (I know I'm very early lol). Thanks for the help.
  3. We're looking for volunteers to work with us at Boomtown! In exchange for a ticket in you'll need to work around 4 shifts across the Weds to the Mon. We're running lost property and information point services, so the work is indoors (nice if the weather doesn't cooperate...). If you're interested, you can register here: https://temwa.org/events/festival-tour-2019/ We're a Bristol-based charity and our festival work raises money for projects in Malawi - you can read more about us here: https://temwa.org/what-we-do/ We also have volunteer slots for Wonder Fields, Shambala and Port Eliot.
  4. I'm doing my first Shelter volunteer Glastonbury this year, I've just been accepted! Anyone else volunteering for Avalon Bars solo this year that wants to crew up? Always good to know a few people before you arrive! Cheers
  5. Hey everyone, We're looking for some volunteers to come and help us out at WOMAD this year. We run a hearing protection campaign called All Ears. You can see what we're all about here: https://allearscampaign.com/safe-listening/ If you're interested in helping us out for a free ticket and food, then get in touch with me on john [at] watchthehype.com. Thanks, John
  6. update from website To qualify for priority status in 2019 you must have done one of the following: Volunteered at 3 festivals in 2017 Volunteered at 2 festivals in 2017 and 1 festival in 2018 Volunteered at 2 festivals in 2018 (the normal priority rule) Oxfam campaigning or shop roles can count towards this, providing at least 1 volunteer experience has been stewarding and you have completed stewards training. 9. Fancy getting into Noisily festival for free while raising money for your favourite charities at the same time? My Cause UK is offering you the chance to fundraise while having fun at some of the UK’s biggest festivals this summer! My Cause UK recruit volunteers for events including Noisily, Boomtown Fair, Love Saves The Day and Port Eliot. In return for your time at the festival they make a donation to a charity of your choice on your behalf, without it costing you a penny! You also get free entry into the festival and VIP perks such as access to showers, phone charging and as much tea and coffee as you can drink. Roles vary from ticket-checking and wrist-banding to general stewarding. Positions are offered on a first-come-first-served basis so sign up quickly to avoid missing out! If you want to volunteer as a group we can arrange shifts together and even if you’re on your own you’ll be volunteering alongside others raising funds for a cause they believe in. For more information check out mycauseuk.com and if you have any questions drop us a line at info@mycauseuk.com
  10. Wanted to see glastonbury from a different perspective so decided to apply for festaff. Super excited that they've offered me work for glasto and IOW. Look forward to be allowed on site before the crowds arrive. I've heard only good things about festaff at glasto, has anybody else got work with them? Also what's the IOW Fest like?
