  1. The lack of headliners I mentioned has just shone through with the Kendal Calling line up. There is next to no one new or inspiring around this year. Blue Dot has done a decent job scraping something together.

Superstruct has more or less acquired all remaining shares in festivals they invested in. So get ready for cost cutting and samey line ups for a few years.

  2. When Y Not went independent from Global/Broadwick and never got acquired by Super it borrowed cash from Global. I'd imagine that cash has never been repaid due to bad years with weather and then COVID.

So a deal been struck with Super

Y Not already shares a third-party booker with Tramlines and Victorious, as well as staffing. So Super can probably make it more cost effective.

  3. One headliner in the bag. One other headliner more or less done deal. Last headliner still some work to do.

They'll more likely wait to mid Jan at the earliest. They could do a part announcement pre-christmas, but I doubt it. Not generally the way they handle it.

I think ticket sales have gone fairly well so they'll be no rush

stadium not park. there's been a new festival applying for the park called cosmic though for early june. I'm not too sure, so many rumours going about that its hard to tell whats real. they are definitely doing something though

The original plan and SJM licence was for AM to play the Park not stadium.

SJM continued their application the following year for an event called COSMIC. Then COVID.

the latest approved application makes no mention of COSMIC.

So, it's anyone's guess at the moment, but the odds are still AM until they announce otherwise.

June 2nd and 3rd... The same dates when plans are approved for new festival COSMIC also in Hillsborough Park. (https://www.examinerlive.co.uk/whats-on/whats-on-news/sheffield-getting-new-music-festival-21344577) Run by SGM, who closely tied with AM...

Are AM playing COSMIC, or is COSMIC just a front for AM gig?

There is a timeline to clear up:

1st Application - Plans for AM gigs at Hillsborough PARK. The band changed their plans and went on an autumn/winter arena tour.

2nd Application - An event called COSMIC by SJM. Still an open licence and application for Hillsborough park

3rd Application - June 2023 are suggested dates, no mention of COSMIC on the application. Licence and application approved by the council.

The original plans for these gigs was always AM. So there is a very good chance it's still AM for Hillsborough Park, otherwise SJM could host a festival similar to Tramlines. Although, not sure what the benefit to SJM would be to copycat Tramlines locally. It makes more sense they have a local act/s lined up.

That’d be too good an opportunity for them to pass up.
Surely they’ll be doing everything they can to secure them

They couldn't even secure a Jarvis solo set when he been touring for multiple years so I wouldn't be so sure. Tramlines festival will hold no sentimental value to Pulp

Is there a complete guide to fringe this year? I'm guessing there isn't but there is always some decent stuff on in the city centre and I'm guessing it's all unofficial now.

Seen that Network has got a solid metal line up on the Sunday but not much for the rest of the week (seeing Phoebe Bridgers on the Sat but it'd be nice to have something on the Friday).
