  1. I went to see it yesterday and wasn't overly impressed. It went a bit silly a few too many times - too many coincidences / plot holes for my liking. I'm quite happy to suspend belief for a film, but this one was a bit much. Kids loved it though. Agree about PWB's character - a highlight.
  2. Do you mean 1 in 20 people are interested in this thread, as the rest are at Glasto? 😉 It is very quiet in here - I've done so much more work as a result!!
  3. My other half is trying for tickets.....dare I ask how much they'll be?!
  4. So are you preferring higher inflation and lower interest rates? That doesn't necessarily make people richer.
  5. Exactly - that was my point. Ozanne is saying that the BoE's hikes have done nothing, but without them then inflation is likely to have risen.
  6. The other part of raising interest rates is to keep up with the Fed interest rate, as if we don't then there are implications to the pound/dollar rate, which could then push inflation even higher. I think the BoE's hands are tied to some extent - they are still in the stage where they are tying to limit the rise, rather than lower them.
  7. Unfortunately, with the price of childcare, the sacrifices end up being the mum giving up work until the child starts school, as it's either to costly to work / marginal difference.
  8. Gutted for Sunderland to miss out on the play off final, after winning the first leg. It was all a bit much to ask to go up 2 seasons on the bounce.
  9. I guess we don't know what would have happened if they hadn't increased them. Would inflation have been worse? Would the pound have fallen against the dollar, as the Fed keeps increasing their rate? Who knows, but on balance, I'm on the side to agree with the BOE (possibly thinking they were too slow).
  10. Getting very excited about the festival now. I'm taking my 10 year old (who is determined to crowd surf!) and want to give him the full festival experience and find a few bands that will make him laugh / shock him - are there any crazy bands out there that would be worth checking out for the shock value. Otherwise he'll be at the Offspring stage all day.
  11. I finished it last night - was decent, but not wow. A bit contrived towards the end but ok.
  12. Well done Scotland! I'd love to see all the home nations get through to Germany next year. Went to my first England game on Sunday with my son as his birthday present. It was such a great atmosphere - can't wait to book the next one. Tickets in the family area were less than £40 for the pair - we were high up, but still great views. Bloody parking cost more!
  13. Nice one. I am foolishly running the London Marathon in 3 weeks and raising money for the Stroke Association. Hats off to anyone supporting their work and the like.
  14. Not the festival as such, but for a day ticket thing (similar to Nofx this year) - a day before, same site, discounts linking tickets, etc - so a good as a festival act.
  15. I'd like them to get A Day To Remember or Rancid in, as they both cancelled over last few years.
  16. 8? It feels way more recent than that. Not doubting you at all though. Agree - uninspiring.
  17. I don't think there was one last year, but the two prior to that were McFly and Busted!
  18. Yes, normally 5 or 6 stages. Logic would be to put Offspring after BFS, but never say never with Slam "King of the Clashes" Dunk.
  19. Happy to admit i was wrong. Not that bothered really. The reality is that they a decent amount of time off, whether contracted or not.
  20. Classic Bazza overreaction. I agreed completely with your second paragraph, but I think there may be some some and mirrors around the 10 month thing. I saw your article and in one sense it is as you said....but the substance of the contract is a standard 12 monther like most other professions. Take maternity leave, if they chose to take a year, it would be a 12 month period, not the 1.2 years that a 10 month contract would imply. I don't even see a reason for them to have the 10 month set up, other than to give them a way of saying they don't have summer off! 😉
  21. Bollocks - they are paid for a year with fixed holidays. They are deemed to be "working" over summer in all manner of ways, e.g. mat leave. Their holidays work in the same way most others work - i.e. the number of working days vary per month (depending on the calendar, holidays, bank holidays, etc) but you get a twelfth every month. But either way it's a big perk (more expensive holidays, I know, I live it too), and way cheaper childcare costs! Teachers generally do a good job though, so not saying otherwise, was just correcting the number of hols. There are a lot who don't pull their weight - my partner tears her hair out about the jobsworthy attitude they have.
  22. But only one can be the laziest.....FIGHT!
  23. 40 days off? And the rest. More like 60! They do work in some of them, but not much. My other half is a head and she works hard in term time, but lives for the hols. She'll have fun if the pay rise does go up, as will likely have to shed more TA's. (Even more TA's, as the energy costs are meaning a few have to go already.)
